Default UPS Jumpseat capacity?

I put my standing bid for SDF for a regional that i started. I was hoping to ride home on UPS but when i called the jumpseat desk the lady told me that the # of people they can take are limited to 1 or 2. I thought you had 3-5 seats at the back of the cockpit that could be used for us to get home.
I am wondering if the commute between SDF and BFI going to be a tough one compared to what i thought or does the lady have wrong information about the # of crews the a/c can take.

Thanks..

4 to 5 jumpseats on all aircraft here at UPS. You should have no problems getting from Biffy to SDF. The crews will treat you great...... I wouldn't let what the jumpseat desk told you discourage you.

BFI has two 767's a day (during the week). One on the next day sort and on on the second day. 4 seats each. It can be difficult for an offline guy as we have a fair amount of commuters in the Seattle area. Also, it's not unusual to have must ride couriers on that route. Still, if you plan ahead, it's not a bad way to go. PDX would be a good back up.

Thanks to all of you. Looks like they even have a flight that does SDF-GEG 25 min stop and goes to BFI. I am not as discouraged as i was in the OP.
I am just trying to avoid airlines. Otherwise connecting through DEN , MSP, ORD is another option..

"have a flight that does SDF-GEG 25 min stop and goes to BFI."

I think that's only once a week. SDF-GEG is only common during peak. Hopefully, it will catch on someday.

Just my opinion....hopefully at UPS we can accomondate as many off-line jumpseaters as possible. Personally, many offline crews have extended me the courtesy of their jumpseats.

As a business practice to save money, UPS uses the jumpseat as a mode to position crews versus paying for commercial tickets. These crews are listed using a higher priority than space available riders (both internal and external ones).

In my travels from Florida to ANC it is very common to have higher priority jumpseaters on flights between SDF and ANC thus limiting the number of space-avail opportunities. As more crew members get assigned ANC (as opposed to bidding by choice), the number of commuters will increase and the opportunity to find a jumpseat (SDF-ANC-SDF) will become more difficult.

Just my two pesos worth,

FF
