Default Astar Cargo (HELP PLEASE)

I have an interview this coming Tuesday. I have some big decisions to make and I am looking to educate myself further.

Q) How long on the panel? I know there are a bunch of ROPES that cant upgrade. How does/will that effect the upgrades to the FO slots?

Q) Basic company outlook? Privately held, it is hard to learn about some of the dynamics of the company when they do not answer to stockholders.

Q) Is the training done via AQP or is it traditional?

Q) How do you feel about job security?

Q) How is commuting? MCI info would be great?

Q) Crash pads needed?

Q) How are the insurance benefits.

They are hiring for an APR 4 class. My second son is supposed to be born on March 27th. I am a little stressed out right now.

Any other information that you think would be good to know and help me make my decision is much appreciated.

Thanks Everyone!

Here's a start. You may need to refine the search to find the specifics you're looking for.

Hopefully there's enough here until someone can answer your questions.

I don't know anything about cargo, but I'm pretty sure that's the one where you'll be seating side-ways for several years, something like 9 or 10. I do hear pay is really good, so if you don't mind commuting to be a FE, then its a good deal. Sorry I was no help

I think you need to recheck your figures. Look at the contract (keep in mind it was just signed in 2008) and then look at someone like FDX. It may be because I have purple fever but who do you think went to bat for their future FO's? Would you commute for a period that I hear is more than likely going to be 10+ years for that pay? Go somewhere else and at least get to fly or even a chance to get to fly. Even if you lived in the Ohio area it would still be a head scratcher.

(edit: Unless you want to sit sideways forever. There are still a few of those)

For what its worth, the wait for a window seat will be a while, but I really don't think it will be 9-10 years. Simply because I don't think they can milk those dinosaurs that much longer. There will be a re-fleet before then and you can bet it will be a 2 pilot airplane.
I just left there and it was a good job, great folks, and good schedule. If I had to make the decision again, I don't know if I would have left. But I had a window seat and I was senior. My only apprehension was that I was a "contractor"... but now DHL has re-bought a share of the airline. That counts for some kind of brand loyalty.
Good luck on your decision.

No buddy, I want my Diesel 8 to last another 14 years, then they can do what they want. How's that Mega Mad Dog treating you?

Hvy, what you're driving isn't a "true" diesel 8. No smoke.
