Attached, please find Posting 08-02 dated April 15, 2008. As I informed you in my communication last week, market conditions make it necessary to re-evaluate our entire fleet disposition and the corresponding crew composition of each equipment type. Consequently, a strategic decision to place the balance of the DC10 fleet into storage following peak 2008 necessitates the excess of all DC10 crews in this posting. Lease returns/retirements of 727s require an adjustment to staffing levels on that equipment, as well. The cancellation of the 757 FDA in Paris will result in those aircraft being deployed in the domestic system which accounts for the 757 MEM vacancies in this posting. It is important to understand that this redistribution of pilots will allow us to maintain an orderly training plan while we rebalance our manning levels to match our fleet composition and block hour requirements. Although we are excessing from the 727 S/O seat, no pilot will be furloughed as a result of this excess.
As always, it is extremely important that you update your standing bid and that it reflects what you want to fly. The bid opens Tuesday, April 15, 2008 and will close at 1500z on Tuesday, May 13, 2008.
Secondary Vacancies
Secondary vacancies will be evaluated at the close of the bid. There is a possibility that secondary vacancies will not be filled in some seats.
Practice Bid
There will be three practice bids; April 23 (Wednesday), April 30 (Wednesday), and May 7 (Wednesday).
Future Bids
We anticipate publishing the next bid in the winter 2008/2009 timeframe which will likely include the initial hiring of 777 crews. Given our current staffing levels, it is unlikely that we will be hiring in the foreseeable future.
Fleet Plan 727 757 DC10 Airbus MD10 MD11 777
May 2008 90 - 13 129 66 58 -
May 2009 79 11 - 122 74 59 -
May 2010 75 28 - 124 80 60 4
