When I read the title of this thread, I thought that something terrible had happened to my employer....like we grounded an entire fleet of aircraft (AA), or we lost 6 billion dollars in Q1, like Delta.

After reading that we "only" cleared just shy of a billion in profit during the first quarter, I kinda sat here with a dumbfounded look on my face. We just made almost a cool billion dollars in profit during a quarter of huge economic turndown, skyrocketing fuel prices, and when practically every other airline out there is losing their collective asses.

Oldfr8dog, what would ever lead you to believe that UPS is in "big trouble?"

Default Big Trouble For Sure

That was the last straw. I'm resigning tomorrow and going to Delta!

I guess it needs to be more obvious to me before the sarcasm light flickers on. It reads to me like Chicken Little.

Wow. That was me being sarcastic. I'm not too concerned about UPS's health.

Thumbs down

Wow they just missed it by 100000000. They should look in to thier managment structure and those high payed , under worked flight managers with their huge salary and bonuces. I think we have have over 200 of these guys, What a useless department and overhead. Get rid of them and and that will solve some of your fuel costs.

As a flight manager on the 747-400 from August 8, 2007 until November 10, 2008 I flew 200 hours of PIC time. I have averaged working 18-20 days a month since I have been assigned to this aircraft. Be careful of who you claim is under-worked and overpaid. As a pilot group the UPS pilots fly the least amount of block hours in the entire US commercial airline industry.

We have several IPA pilots that have not flown over 200 hours for the entire year of 2007. Explain to me how any airline can exist with out people to manage the day to day operation and also administer training. People like you need to get a life!! Oh yes and by the way why don't you learn how to spell or use spell check!!
