Part 135 guy seeking cargo career
This is my first post. Can anyone give me some career advice?
I am working a corporate job flying a citiation and have applied to ups and fedex. I have 5,800tt. Just wondering if there's any chance that I could get a job w/ a major cargo carrier. I have been w/ the same company for 5 years and only making $57,000/ yr. I would love to get a job w/ ups or fedex. I flew cargo in the past and really liked it. Any suggestions would be really appreciated. I'd love to plant some roots and know what our future holds. My kids are 6 and 1 and would love to be settled before moving AGAIN becomes too difficult for them.

There's all sorts of history buried in this site, so take some time to browse around. But for FedEx, the key is having three current FedEx pilots, preferably pilots who have flown with you, perform an on-line recommendation for you and one of them needs to do a face-to-face with their RCP/ACP (Regional Chief Pilot/Assistant Chief Pilot). If you've already applied and you meet the requirements listed on our site, then you just need the recommends. Networking is the key to any job, especially an airline job.

Although I am not a pilot yet, however, I have been in direct contact with guys who hold line positions with FDX right now. The one thing these guys say is to get to know one or a few of the pilots that fly for FDX. Networking. This is your best chance. Resumes are walked into FDX and having insider recommendations is highly desirable.
Best wishes and blue skies.
