Default UPS 767-300ERs

Are the 27 767-300ER deliveries 2009-2012 going to be replacement aircraft or are they due to expansion?

Thanks ...

A very good question and nobody knows the answer. I think that the official explanation is expansion but a lot depends on the economy, price of oil, and all around health of the DC-8's

A definite maybe

Unless your living in la la land, or a die hard UPS suck up aka Tod N guy, I think it's obvious.

It's a DC8 Replacement. Period. And yes, we are shrinking.

Who knows, the timing would be good for replacing the Bus on some domestic stuff and then transferring those to the new Shezen (sp?) regional hub. Or, if the loads are enough, just having the 76s be the new "regional" freighter out in the Pac-Rim into and out of Shezen, Shanghi, etc.

DC-8 replacement. Domestic Next Day Air is down, and until the economy improves, the plan is to keep overhead to a minimum.

Except now we're apparently looking to pull some DC-8s out of the desert to fly DHL volume. This stuff changes daily.

It makes you wonder if they haven't been working on this for a while including such decisions as putting the MD-11's domestic. Maybe Nash can explain to us all how we are shrinking?
