Default FDX Guys Bidding HKG

Guy's here's the question: what's to stop the company from keeping you there until he!! freezes over. Here's the theory; you bid HKG and get it, two years later you bid ANC and your seniority will let you hold it, so it is awarded. Now the company assigns you a the last training date for the MD-11 say in a year or so. In the mean time everyone junior to you gets and goes to the MD-11 in ANC. Now you say, I'm due passover pay because all these junior guys are going ahead of me to training, so the company says sure you can have it. Here's your widebody passover pay. Next bid same thing happens again, when the HKG vacancies go unfilled.

Any way the above could happen. Or is there something in place to prevent this.

The thing in place is that the pay rates are the same, thus negating passover pay.

Exactly my point. There is no incentive for the company to ever bring you back from HKG. Do you think the company would be this cruel.

We've discussed other scenarios on the bulletin board. In order for you to come "home" from HKG there has to be a vacancy bid that you can hold. What if after your 2 years there isn't a bid for several years that you can hold? You could be there for a very long time!

We also discussed, how there has to be a vacancy bid for the NDs to get back their precious window seat and well... We all know how that went... Sorry.. Just adding fuel to the fire!

They could also delay your training (or transfer) to the new seat as long as possible/practical. Coincidentally, this recently happened to MD FO's when the Purple Nug's went to PANC. The Company controls the training letter.

Couldn't agree more on the potentially long term consequences of a junior HK FO bid. I did hear one clever guy propose that in his dream world nobody would bid HK FO on this excess, then on the subsequent posting for HK FO only the bottom 25-30 on the seniority list would bid HK FO. If PC really does want to show the world he's the man with the stones to put FX pilots on the street, it would really chap him to lose HK FO's in the process.

Just sharing crazy night hub turn "can we leight bult freat?" daydreams that don't happen when the sun is up.
