Default FE written Exam (Gleim products)

Has anyone used the Gleim software for the FE written exam? If so was it the same questions as the test? I'm trying to balance Gleim ($60) against paying AllATPS $300 for their 1 day course...

Thanks

I've used Gleim before for a number of writtens and always found there tests to be pretty accurate as long as you have the current one. Even the out-of date stuff worked for the vast majrity of the questions.

I used "faatest.com" It is software you download from their website and practice taking mock tests on your computer. Studied for 2 days and got a 96. The question bank is about 800 vs. the 1800 total questions that are in the data base. Very well worth it in my opinion. Good luck!

I think any off the shelf written test prep will help you get a pretty good score on the written. But that's all your buying is a "score" on a written. The 2-day ground school might be good to actually learn how the systems work.

Based on your avatar, I'm guessing you already know the theory on a PACK, hydraulic actuator, TR, etc.... If transport category aircraft systems hold no great mystery for you I'd suggest that you go with the cheapest route. I've used Gleim in the past and was satisfied.

Good Luck

I've never gone to the weekend course, but friends who have told me they cram it into your brain pretty quickly. You are supposed to take the written immediately or all the "knowledge" leaks out after a week or so.

I'm currently going through the product put out by Sheppardair.com (thanks to advice from others on this forum. It narrows the questions down to about 400, allows you to view each with just the right answer displayed and then with all answers displayed and so on. For $75 seems like a pretty good deal so far. I'll let you know more after I take my test next week. With a heavy background, most of the questions are pretty simple and intuitive. The others are just plain stupid. I haven't seen anything that would be worth "learning" (again) at a higher dollar school. Anyway, go to their website and download the trial and make the decision for yourself.
