Gemini Air Cargo shutdown today?
#4
I read on another board that World is hiring. As they have the same equipment they are putting guys/gals through the short course.
I've been through this crud a couple of different times and hang in there. Wish I could say more.
770-632-8305 is the job hotline number and it hasn't been udated in a while but every little bit helps.
Again, good luck and everyone needs to step up and get those job prospects out there to not only this group but the numerous groups that have shut down.
It's up to us to take care of our own as we know management won't.

Gemini ceases flying: sources
By Mary Kirby
Two months after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, Gemini Air Cargo has shuttered operations, say sources with knowledge of the situation.
After several attempts to contact Gemini at its Washington Dulles and Miami offices, the company could not be reached for comment. A Gemini staffer in Belgium would neither confirm nor deny the closure.
Gemini's web site remains operational, and it continues to display a flight schedule. But sources, and a growing number of unsubstantiated web reports, indicate the carrier has closed its doors.
In mid-June Gemini VP general counsel Don Creston said the company hoped to sell its operation as part of its Chapter 11 filing in Miami bankruptcy court. At that time, he said management has not determined if Gemini would cease flying should a buyer not be found.
Gemini leases McDonnell Douglas MD-11 freighters and owns DC-10-30Fs, several of which are listed in storage in Flight's ACAS database.

Fellow Aviators,
What a 5hit sandwich this industry has become!
Much like our economy, the middle class of aviation has been decimated. It used to be that, like our economy, the mid level airlines were abundant and there were many good job choices... Think about the carnage in the past few years, Ryan Intl. (B727 postal operation), Express One, Transcon, Tradewinds, Kitty Hawk, Focus Air, Cargo 360, now Gemini. And now, with Astar and ABX possibly about to lose their jobs, that leaves UPS, Fedex, ATI/Cappy, Ameristar, USA Jet, Centurion, and AmeriJet (furloughing).
Hang in there, Gemini Pilots and good luck.
