Yeah, but we do such a great job around here of making techniques standard, why stop at packing?:)

For sure, the whole scene in ANC has evolved over the years. Years ago UPS was stuck out at the Regal/Millenium, and unless you wanted to drop $25 RT on a cab or ride he cultural ANC city bus you were trapped at the Mangy Moose, with overpriced everything, lame service and a UPS mole bartender to boot.

F-Street to me has always had consistently good food, and barring a couple cocky/burned out gals great service (for a while years ago they had an awesome chef). Over the last few years the backwards baseball cap/nose ring wearing hockey player wannabe crowd takes over around 9-10 overshadowing the leather crowd. So then you've got choices...Darwin's, Pioneer and Bernies depending on the night are all solid options, and especially at Darwin's you never know what you'll see. Humpies is a consistent standby with their beer selection and solid menu, but they have their moments with attitude, having thrown out several pilot types over they years for sometimes BS reasons and some lame service. Everyplace in ANC has tourist burnout, and by the height of the summer everyone is pretty burned out, with service improving in the winter..typical tourist town phenomena.

As for me I haven't brought out the leather because it's too bulky, especially if much of your trip is in warm climates. Fed Ex's black jacket is a much better grade and more practical. A good REI jacket is a much better bet (more efficient in keeping you warm) and you don't look like a Chuck Yeager wannabe.

Or you could go to Koots and get your ass thrown out for NO reason whatsoever (bg)!

No kidding! I had forgotten about that place since I spend most of my time in the downtown orbit. If you've got wheels and don't have more than one there are some good places to go for a change of pace like Beartooth Pizza and Peanut Farm. I guess I am getting old as the appeal of Koots has faded considerably. Somehow MILF's downtown are more appealing than midtown cranked out 20 somethings with bouncer boyfriends :D.

Just went to the Paris Club last week and the steak was excellent! A little pricey but every once in a while will do!

F Street is good for a late afternoon lunch while reading the newspaper and that's about it. Last time I was there it was me and a couple of people at the bar. I chose to sit down at a table so I could have plenty of space. The waitress asked me to move to the bar in case a party of more than one came in??? I asked if she was serious while looking around to see no one else sitting at any table. I laughed and went to the bar.

BTW, I have only been to Platinum Jaxx twice and twice got sick. Anyone else have a similar experience. Won't be going there again.

Well that's 'coz you're an iron man Kosko :D

Can't go wrong with Club Paris, the Rice Bowl has good steaks as well, Glacier Brew House if you like seafood, Sullivan's for the specials, Humpy's is good for some stuff, F-Street for only a couple items, Snow Goose has some good brews as well. Of course there is always the mall food court
Don't forget that wine bar joint behind Humpy's. They share the kitchen but it is usually less crowded. There is also a Japanese place in a hotel down by the Sheraton that has good bento boxes and sushi. If all else fails you can always try to choke down a meal at the Country Kitchen.
