UPS: The F word

As the economic melt down continues, the possibility of UPS "parking" pilots and jets seems like it's around the corner.

So what are we saying??

100

200

10 percent?

Or sell everything to DHL?

They'll do it about 5 years after Fed Ex furloughs because we always seem to copy them at about that interval (UPS pretty much only does anything original with trucks and boring TV ads). But by then the economy will be humming along yet again off another scheme that will fail in ten years and get bailed out by the taxpayer. ;)

If DHL falls apart I see a remote chance of it, but we'll be the last on the block to do so.

I don't work for UPS but I follow there financials a bit so i wonder do you guys just tale this stuff off the top of your head or what ?

If DHL deal fails, I think all the 8's will be parked after peak. Just my opinion, but the payloads I have seen lately are not good.

Most of the good info here at APC comes from "people in the know". Like, crew bus drivers, mechanics and NRA advertisements. The rest is just filled in from Faux News programs.

That brings up an interesting scenario. If DC-8s are parked. The >60<65 engineers would be out of a position. Will they be let go/fired/forced retirement since there's nothing for them to do?

I sure hope the company isn't gonna keep them around to wait on a vacancy.

There have been furloughs on the truck driving side already. That cannot be a good thing.

I was just about to start a similar FedEx thread ... as the Chief Pilot has been threatening furloughs for several months
