Ironically, the normal pre-Concorde runway inspection was not performed because the CDG fire department was conducting a fire drill. |
I heard that the flight continued all the way to Oakland and landed safely. Did the pilots even know if those pieces had fallen off? If so, wouldn't a preventative landing have been a good idea.

Several years ago, a 727 lost an engine near PHX and pressed on to the west coast. Only problem--they had really LOST the engine! :eek:

I will never forget the day that the left front tire departed my car while on the way to the airport. And I was going in on MY DAY OFF!!!!!!!!!!

Since the cowling is painted purple, this was the engine on the back of the DC 10.. I guess that would be the number 2 engine.. The engines on the wing are not painted purple..
