What should we make of this? I wonder if the deal is off?

"UPS realizes that your business may be affected by recent changes in DHL's U.S. operations. Published reports say the company has significantly reduced its workforce, particularly its U.S. sales staff, and its network capacity."

UPS. Switch now.

UPS is picking up customers everyday and DHL has less to sell ( or sub contract out) . The deal may not be dead but, its going to be a lot smaller for DHL.

THis has nothing to do with the deal. Ups has repeatedly said despite this deal they will remain a stiff competetor with dhl and there will be business as usuall as far as going after thier accounts and attracting thier customers.

Wow. This is bold. Antitrust is written all over all of this. An example I like to use is over the Christmas rush your plane is close to voluming out. Do you stuff a few more UPS boxes on board or do you leave those boxes on the ramp and take the DHL boxes?

You know, Skymaster, I've been pretty quiet on this whole subject up 'till now. So, I'm going to jump in here a bit...

Since others get bashed on bringing up their opinions on this deal, please cite your sources for saying "the deal is long gone........." I have not seen anything in the press, anything from UPS or DHL, etc. to back up your ascertations. Please, enlighten us.

Exactly. The customers don't want to even think about the potential for an interruption of service.

Where do you see "antitrust" written all over this? It is a webpage allowing new customers to sign up an account. Just because the letters DHL were used in a sentence in the first paragraph doesn't make it antitrust.

You guys need to take a break. I understand that you guys are fighting for your jobs, but this is grasping at straws.

It's not "in writing", yet. And I'm not going to splash my "sources" names all over the net. There is a confidentiality agreement in place.

But I stand by my assertion "The deal is dead".

Get over it.
