Default VTO and Recurrent

OK guys. I have recurrent in Nov and vacation and was awarded a VTO which will be reserve. So, will they build a 19 day reserve line in addition to vacation? Their won't be many days off for training. What happens if I protect min days off? Will they drop R days? I figure I'm going to be working alot since they will probably build the line around vacation. So, how do I get a bunch of R days off for priority MU? Thanks, this is a first

Why are you working a lot in a vacation month? Extend your vacation or ask for max vacation on your VTO form. Your training dates go on your calendar first before they build your VTO with your vacation week on it. Don't waive your min days off, bid the training dates you want, and ask for max vacation. You shouldn't be working that hard in your vacation month.

FDXer, thanks for the info. I'm very junior so I can only hold a VTO which will be all reserve b/c of my juniority. So, I figured they would, unfortunately, build my 19 day reserve line around vacation. Believe me, I'd love to knock out half of it if I could. I'm trying to figure out what to do to knock some days out. Should I protect min days off?

They will subtract your vacation days from the number of days they schedule you. They will also subtract your training days as well.

If you protect min days off:

Assuming 7 days vacation (7 X 6 = 42 credit hours) Leaving 11 days.

You will be awarded 2 R days and then removed from them for training (goes into your makeup bank)

You will be left with 10 R days and because you have a VTO line they can put them anywhere except 2 days prior until 2 days after your vacation and 12 hours either side of your training.

Pay will be calculated: 42 + ( 10 X R Day value)

Your training will be paid in the following month

Hope this helps

Be careful on this one, you need to reread the contract. All of the expansion and extensions only apply to regular lines and reserve lines. The way this will work is you will get assigned your training day first(you should have it now), then they will look at your vacation footprint, credit the amount of your vacation, and build you up to the blg with the remaining days left. You will have a bonus day for the training(an extra 4.5hrs), so if you are looking to maximize your days off, you will probably have to drop something. Really it depends on how senior you are and how many days of vacation you have. I had this happen to me in June, and I would have gotten more time off if I would have been awarded a R-line or a regular line. I ended up dropping what I was awarded(max days off!)

PM me if you want any details.
