Anyone know what happens if you go sick on a trip and go negative on your sick bank?
Does it only credit you for what you have, or is it similar to OTP, where you have to make it up or they take it away the next month?
I am still trying to decifer the contract.
Thanks,
Haywood

If you have 12 hours left in your sick bank and are sick for an 18 hour trip, you need to contact your ACP (I emailed my FOS in a similar situation), might/might not need to provide a Doctors note.
In my situation, they took all the hours out of my disability account versus splitting the hours between my regular sick account and my disability account.
If you don't contact them, they might just remove you from the trip w/out pay----which is also an option for you if you want to save some sick leave.

FYI....A few years back I was in the same position. The Flt. Ops Specialist explained that when DSA is in play, pilots have the option of using it or having the trip (or in your case portion of trip) dropped without pay. Because pilots have that option, legally the company can't touch a pilots DSA without permission. In my case they contacted me and asked what I preferred to do. Doctors note wasn't required back then, but I hear these days they require one at every opportunity.
Can you expense your co-pay for a managment required doctors visit?

I have a question about being sick on reserve. I think the '06 contract changed how this situation is handled.
Say you have a 5 day block of reserve and you are sick for the whole block. If you never get called for a trip, how much time if any is deducted from your sick bank?
It looks like your bank would be deducted 5 x (value of 1 day of reserve).
Do you guys agree that is what the new contract says about this situation?
If you guys don't know I guess I could just ask our negotiating chairman. Oops, guess I can't do that!

Only if you are sick for the entire month, then you would be docked the value of your RLG.
If you are only sick for a couple of days out of the month, you only get docked for the value of trips that you would have been assigned but couldn't fly.
Sick for 5 days out of 19, you shouldn't be docked any if you weren't assigned any trips.
From the contract:
"Reserve Pilots
The following shall apply to a reserve pilot who calls in sick for an R-day(s) or a reserve assignment:
1. A pilot holding a line comprised entirely of R-days and who is sick for all such R-days shall be compensated his RLG and shall have his sick leave reduced by such RLG.
2. A reserve pilot who has been given a reserve assignment(s) prior to calling in sick shall be removed from that assignment(s) commencing at 0900 LBT on the day prior to showtime for that assignment(s) or at the time of the sick call, whichever is later.
3. A reserve pilot on sick leave shall be assigned open time as if he were not on sick leave (Section 25.G.3. Open Time Assignment and Section 25.M.6. Reserve Assignment Options). A reserve pilot will maintain his leveling position on the reserve list, and the scheduled credit hours for any trips he is assigned and removed as sick will be credited toward his RLG and deducted from his sick bank. Commencing at 0900 LBT each day, a reserve pilot with an assignment(s) having a showtime during the next day shall be removed for sick leave and such assignment be available for open time assignment by CRS."
