Actually the reasons to turn down extra flying right now at Fedex has nothing to do with CBA improvements. More than likely most people dont want to pick up an extra day over the holidays and in this WX fiasco spread over the entire country. Besides, once you volunteer for a trip, they got you on the hook for anything they may decide to do with you. Been there, done that, no thanks.

Couple years ago I got called to fly an airbus from Denver to Memphis in the AM of Dec 24. Scheds said I'd be back in time to catch the jumpseat home in the afternoon. Wouldn't be gone from home more than 7 hours. My wife's parent were in town for Christmas so I turned it down. Turns out the plane went to ABQ first. Didn't get back to Memphis until after the afternoon sort. And being Christmas eve there wasn't an AM launch back to Den. Would have been stuck in Memphis for Christmas.

Any time you accept a draft trip, or volunteer for a trip, for that matter, you accept the fact that "sh!t happens", and in all probability you are going to be the sh!tee. That goes double during the winter months, and quadruple during the after-Thanksgiving-thru-New-Years timeframe.

Just got called for the second time today and I don't live in Mem. "Sorry I''m loaded..."
Does that put you on the spin dry program?

I gotta say, with your screenname, you probably won't get much sympathy.

So do you get 150% of 150% for the extension?

Wow, all you guys getting called? I feel so left out, oh yeah, I marked the option "do not call" in VIPS. With even the discussion of overmanning, and possible "de-manning" scenarios for our junior pilots, just can't seem to keep the old universe spinning serenely around my ugly noggin'. There's more to life than hosing others to my benefit!
