And spot on to you, too, CAVU. I heartily agree. We've come a long way, baby.:D

This pretty much sums up why we will continue to "talk the talk" but not "walk the walk" ..................... Anyone know how to do a "Right Oblique" or are we better off at "Parade Rest" ???

No .. if we had the "GUTS".. that bid would have been cancelled.. and we would have gotten a lot further in this negotiation for the proper payrate for the 777.

JP

So, the bottom 250 guys would be incapable of flying the 777 around the world? How junior is that bottom 300 Capt in HKG?

Maybe that new hire from Emirates or Cathay might be qualified?

Again, there are two issues at play that makes things seem bad. Don't confuse the two....

No doubt, more than capable, but how could they threaten a furlough.

The same way they do now... Excess off the fat airplanes and have an excess of 1 on the 777. Pushes everyone down no different than it does now.... Or up in the case of the 777.

Would you go to the right seat of the 727 or to the right seat of the 777 if you were excessed?

The initial LCAs on the 777 must have been LCA on glass equipment before. That is something FAA is demanding. So, no I don't thing the bottom 250 can make that happen. Bottom Captain in HKG was hired early in 05... great guy, if that matters.

Time to get off PB back, he is one of the good guys.

Am I making sense or out in left field though?

Union Rep bids 777 while Union justifiably claims company is not negotiating in good faith. Union insinuates that bidding 777 without pay rate finalized is subversive to rest of crew force's best interest. Union rep then tries to justify by saying he was being "honorable and principled" by sticking to his agreement to instruct on 777. What happened to his agreement to represent the best interests of his Union constituents? If he wasn't a Union rep; I wouldn't have noticed or cared what he did. Like you said, there was going to be 250 guys who bid it anyway.
But then again I got kicked off the debate team for choking out my competition so I can be a little ummmm emotional.

It's pretty simple as I see it. I didn't bid the jet and I could have held it. I know current and past managers that didn't bid the jet, and they could have held it. PB bid it, and that is his right, but in my humble opinion, he should resign from block representation. By bidding the 777 he showed a conflict of interest. The Union is trying to get a pay-rate and that undermines the effort when a "Union rep" bids the jet. Heck, I think the MEC should give him and JG the boot for doing it. After that, I hope he does enjoy teaching and flying the airplane. I myself am not enchanted with a freaking airplane that rolled off production lines in 1997! I swear, these folks act like they will be fueling it with liquid O2 and preparing pad 39B at Canaveral for the first launch. Hello! It's just a 777 guys, keep your panties on!
