How are these guys paid? Is it salaried, some kind of secret formula? I guess my point is these dudes better be feeling the pain like we are (yeah, right).

I believe they got hit with the 5% (+?) cut in management cuts when FWS took his cut. When I went to the sim last month, my instructor was telling me of one of his DO buddies that was whining about the 5% cut. He said he told him to shut up and had better not whine around the school house and AOC, as he had a 96CH guarantee each month as a DO and 5% of that is still less than the hit the crewforce had already taken in the reduced BLG/RLGs over the previous months. Pretty much shut his DO buddy up!

So if we are taking much more than a 5% pay cut, why would we step up for any extra work? Why is any member a : flex, lca, pca, standards, acp, do, techpilot ,etc.

Why do we have so many kool aid drinkers? So many indepent contractors. So many I got mine?

A better question might be: Which ones are actually going to outlast Al Davis' next football coach? :D

I guess I don't understand where we have the audacity to demand that guys in flight management "better be feeling the pain like we are." These guys took those jobs for any number of reasons, and what they're getting paid, or how much of a pay raise or pay cut they took, or will take, is frankly, none of our business. If you want to work in flight management, apply. If you're like I was, someone who just wanted to fly the line and then enjoy my time off, then be thankful that someone is doing the job. The fact that that person is also a union member, in my mind, is a plus.

I'm sure that some of the guys in these management positions are there for themselves, but I'm equally sure that the majority of them are there for the betterment of the crew force, which translates to each and every one of us.

As for why these guys do it, well, why not ask them individually, but is it really fair to chastise these guys for doing what they think is right?

This is EXACTLY the kind of Koolaid drinking that skeebo2 was referring to.

There's absolutely no way any of those guys could possbily rationalize any of the latest gross buffoonery and shenanigans as being "what they think is right" - gmafb!!

Yeah, now I understand. So if someone is in a management position and they disagree with what's going on, they should just quit. Sort of in protest. It didn't happen with G.W.Bush, or Dick Cheney, nor with any member of congress, nor with any CEO's or CFO's, nor any middle managers that I can think of. I guess they all should have just thrown in the towel when times got rough. Yeah, that's what they should have done, just quit. That'll show the ba$tards.

Just because they're in a management position, doesn't mean that they have to like what's going on. I just think that it's probably better that they stay, to voice their honest opinion, and to help where they can, as opposed to quitting in protest. If that's Koolaid drinking to you, than so be it.
