DAL, NWA, USAIR pilots reading this post would give anything to be in your position.

Now we know you're not a union member, or you would have recognized these bullets from the MEC Chairman's letter. You really should get out of your cocoon and try to become more informed.

Our value to this Company has absolutely nothing to do with the failures of any other airline, or their management. Our value is based on the success of this Company, and our contributions to it.

Just take one of the above bullets and think for a brief moment about it. Pilots pay has long been based on the productivity that he contributes by operating a particular aircraft. Now, except for airlines like UPS, where all Captains are paid the same, regardless of the airplane they fly, or all FOs are paid the same, regardless of the airplane they fly (with the same year group seniority, that is), we are paid more for airplanes that carry more and go farther. Nobody flies a Cessna 172 and gets Boeing 747 rates.

Consider the A380. It goes farther than any of our airplanes with more freight that any of our airplanes. In fact, in addition to the claims made by Airbus, we have heard Fred Smith himself brag that the airplane will carry the load of 2 MD-11's twice the distance of an MD-11. That sounds like 4 times the productivity of an MD-11. And yet, he expects to pay an A380 pilot the same as an MD-11 pilot? You gotta be kiddin' me.

Coincidentally, I believe the frown on his face in my Avatar came at the very moment he considered he might be expected to pay his pilots more to fly the airplane. That's the biggest smile he could muster on the day the A380 was Revealed.

Apples and oranges. Cargo and pax.

We're only viewed as "major airline pilots" when it is convenient or feasible for the company!

Every FedEx employee should be proud of our current success AND fully expect his/her share from that success!!

Tony, I think you are way off base on this. Fred Smith created this industry and is still redefining it. Some individual crewmembers who deride him as a tyrant are just your everyday disgruntled pilots. Consider replacing your avatar with a happy little Tug Boat and a smiling Tony at the wheel.

Cub,

That's the picture that appeared on the Airbus website. That's your CEO. That's him on the day of the Reveal. That's Mr. Happy.

Consider educating yourself -- wean yourself off the propaganda.

Tug Boat Tony:
So you equate that Fred Smith is worrying about paying his pilots too much money and I see someone who is dealing hardball with Airbus and telling them that he is going to hold their “feet to the fire” on the contractual performance and payload guarantees on this aircraft.

I knew John Leahy, President of Airbus America back when he worked for Piper Aircraft, over 25 years ago. I bet you that John would say I am correct in my analysis of Fred Smith. I am not calling John because he has become somewhat arrogant after working for the French all these years. Fred Smith is a tough negotiator but fair. I sure you will squeal at this, so let out a yell and give it that 100% effort.

I can see that you're not interested in educating yourself - - you're more interested in cute name-calling.

This is not about Fred Smith. He is a successful businessman, and I'm glad he is. I don't care if he gets paid a bazillion dollars - - he's worth it. All I care is that pilots get the Contract we deserve. Nothing more, nothing less. Do you think John would argue that?

Now, where do I send the DVD?

If it is not about Fred Smith, then why do you demean him on this web site with your avatar? You and a lot of other FedEx pilots are frustrated and take it out on Fred. Everyone at FedEx wants a contract signed. It would give the company a tremendous advantage over UPS to get the contract first. I will stop using the cute little names.

Your are grasping at straws trying to get John at Airbus to agree with you on the Union's position. He is a airplane salesman, and of no help to you or the union

When I started this, I wasn't on medications but am considering them now.

What, pray tell, is demeaning about his picture? Like I said, it was on the Airbus website for all the world to see. They didn't seem to have any problem with it. He is who he is, and he appears as he appears.

What's the big deal?

Oh, and John is not just an airplane salesman. He and I have something in common. ;)

You seriously need to relax. Try an adult beverage when you view the DVD... I'll even deliver it, if you like.

:)

I kinda like the pic of Fred. It is intense, like he is, and captures his personality. I mean this in a nice way. Contract or not, I really don't hear any pilots talk bad about about Fred. Everyone agrees he started this, he does a good job, andhe deserves every penny he gets.

Except for the promises that he has made to pilots and broken, I agree.
