Which UPS mgmt pilots will get released?
Just curious, I don't see how UPS can furlough potentially hundreds of pilots without letting go of some managers.
Does anybody know if they have a date of hire list or anything else that places the pilots in a pecking order, or will UPS simply dump the perceived troublemakers or the DC8 and 757 flight qualified supes (those fleets that are being eliminated or downsized)?
I wonder how many of them wish they were part of the IPA with today's developments.

You actually think the company might do that?
Personally, I sort of doubt they'll want to release a single one of them; they'll need everyone there is to cover for the open/JA time ban. Considering many are very junior they might actually be glad they are not IPA or they'd be part of the 300... Who knows…

Any furlough plan should include huge reductions of management pilots (we have fewer fleets) ... followed by an integration of remaining management pilots into our seniority list by date of hire. Then, if a furlough is required, we can talk.

We have over 200 that are "flight qualified". Their purpose is to write daily bulletins and harass pilots.
Seriously ... they all do "adminstrative" work for the company which includes : bulletins & revisions, line checks, type rides, training, sick call monitoring, and other assignments around the system ... you get the idea ?
There are some others that are not flight qualified. Some of these have worked in HR and taught ground schools. I have no clue how many of them there are.
In addition to these duties, flight qualified are then on reserve 24/7 for company convenience.
Its not like most airlines where line pilots are free to enter management and return if they get burnt out from it. It is a one way street. These pilot managers are not on the pilot seniority list.
FWIW ...
