Why flush 75 FO's when that's the second lowest paid seat?

...it would also put the bottom 200 or so cleanly in the back of the 727 (...except for those who bid HKG/FO). Hope it doesn't happen --- but it could. |
The very bottom 72 FO is out on MLOA which opens up a few ?'s regarding POP.
Seems like extra training cycles....if a furlough were to happen, why even worry about re training the bottom guys when they will have to be re trained when brought back on property? |

The bottom 34 or so FOs that could be flushed back are not the most junior if they move to the back seat. In fact, the most junior one would still have roughly 143 current SOs below him. |
Someone asked an ACP (PD I think) what if you are getting passover pay and the guy triggering it gets excessed but goes on mil leave and doesn't train. When their training would be complete, (2 months or so) you lose passover.

Excesses and passover pay
The contract clearly states what triggers pop and how it goes away. The contract doesn't address excesses. The company drives through every loop hole that they can. Now it is our turn.

I don't think passover is going to be much of a player (with the possible exception of HKG Captain) in these excess bids. The junior guys are going to get shuffled to the bottom and then passover won't be an issue.
The right seat of the 75 is now fat (or will be after 09-02 closes) and then 09-03 will follow and put all of those guys into the right and back seat of the 72. This will effectively kill all the passover for the few remaining 72 guys who are getting it. I could be wrong, but I think the company has this bid pretty well figured out, and although it all may be a ruse to get the right seat of HKG filled, I don't think it is. |

diff between 727 SO on March 09 RLG and HKG FO on March 09 RLG = almost $3900.00/month add that to the extra $2700.00 for rent, and you get quite a sizeable monthly pay differential. for those who could make the move (no spouse/kids/dogs/cats/etc.?) and gut it out for a couple of years - the "ruse" might be worth it. |
