Default Albie: Cargo vs peeps

Guys,

After a couple of years at a legacy carrier, Albie asked for some feedback on my perspective of cargo vs pax life.

Without reservation, my opinion is that Purple guys continue to have, by an order of magnitude, the best aviation job in the world......even in light of all the disappointments of the last year.

Please pm me if any would like to have facts to back up my statement. Albie, give me a call sometime and I think I can reassure you about the direction your career path has taken.

Fraternally,
BG

Pros...

No pax!
No cabin crew!
Airplane is ready to go... fueled, and climatized!
Don't have to deal with pax terminal, unless D/H!
Faster Security Proccessing!
Fewer Delays and more direct routing!

Cons..

Feel like a vampire at times.
sleep patterns altered... although not much different from international flying.
Some times self catering is required... although not a bad thing.

No mainline vs. regional battles over outsourcing. At least not at UPS, don't know how it is at FDX. Also as much as we have been squeezed it pales in comparison to how they have been.

A quick trip to the major forum will confirm we have it made.

Uh....thanks. Kind of want to get someone's perspective who did a career at Fedex and is now at Delta or some other pax carrier.

We still have to watch them on scope and of course we have the airline within an airline, our management pilots.

Default Tuck

Tuck,
Full career at FedEx, and 2-year newbie at Delta....PM me for off-forum specifics, and look at previous posts for general climate.

Regards,
BG
