the one on the 14th is of very little use to the company and moving the 8th to the 13th won't create a 1 in 7. any ideas who i should call or email to actually get a person involved? Called CRS and was told they couldn't change an "insufficient reserves" denial but keep trying 'cause things constantly change (nice lady, not her fault). So even though this benefits the company and we're overmanned to the point of 4a2b, we still don't have enough reserves on a Sunday afternoon to move a day. |

Yet another example of the fact that our contract really has no rules once you go beyond the regular lines in any seat.
30% of FDX pilots of all seniorities have almost no contract. Nobody in the DW MEC regime had been on reserve since they got out of the Falcon and its pretty obvious when you read the contract. PIPE |

I dont know; lets take R-24. For years it was understood that R-24 would not be used for hotel stand by accept in rare cases. All of a sudden the company cuts the number of A and B reserves and finds themselve shorthanded. Solution; lets bring the R-24 into town.
Cost to the company: a little per diem and a hotel room. Not a nickle of extra pay. FDX MEC solution: we negotiate a deal where we legitimize the scheduling abuse of the R-24 pilots. Oh wait this is negative talk, no place for that. I think I'll go out on my boat and pretend I am a captain. |
It wasn't that long ago that there was no R-24. In fact, there was no A or B reserve. There was only reserve. And, it was a 1 hour callout, 24 hrs. Granted, the FAA finally took care of part of that for us. But, the contract HAS improved the life of a reserve.
The CBA is not perfect. It's not even close. But, to just say that the CBA leaves out 30% of our crewforce is idiotic. With the mindset that you're using towards reserves and the contract...You could say that the contract leaves out 100% of the crewforce. The company has abused everyone!! |
Couldn't find my boat.
Yes of course the contract provides protection for all of us. I guess his point was some of us are just more equal than others. To keep it positive, junior guys are going to get a good shot at some of those "used to be senior" reserve lines. |

.... How can 10 F/Os be insufficient for the 727 on a Sunday afternoon?
P.S. and no one (union) holding them accountable (or maybe not even bothering to keep track of any of it)  |

I was gonna give up on this until I checked my leveling for the 8th and discovered 10 guys on the list for Sunday afternoon. How can 10 F/Os be insufficient for the 727 on a Sunday afternoon? So I made a call and sent an email. I'll post the results when I know what happens.
I called my FOA who suggested I email my ACP. Presto, schedule was changed. This was the first interaction I have had with an ACP other than a meet and greet with a bud. This small thing on his part went a good ways in fostering some goodwill in these uncertain times. |
