ALPAs web site
Is anyone else having trouble navigating the ALPA web site? I log on, and get the main news splash page. When I select the FDX tab or FDX 26 tab, I get the notice "You are already logged in to the site. Click here to go to the main page or use the menu above to locate what you are looking for."
Clicking the link puts me back to the beginning... ?????

Actually ... at the last union meeting, the officers acknowledged it was a problem and said both ALPA National and FDX MEC are working website issues in an effort to make the site more user friendly (hopefully prior to heated contract negotiations!).
They said they were VERY RECEPTIVE to suggestions if you have any ... so, they do seem to be listening for a change

I have a suggestion - FIX the logon page!!!!
I have tried all of their fixes (clearing cache/cookies etc) and the only way I have been able to login is with Google Chrome in an Incognito window because it does not store cookies or cache files

Having "worked" with (worked over by) the Herndon IT dept. since '98 - that quote is especially funny to me! Receptive to change, hahahah!
I think the only way we'll ever get a quality product out of Herndon is to outsource the IT infrastructure. There are a number of US based SaaS (Software as a Service) providers that could significantly improve the workflow of the content producers and the quality of the end product for the site users - while lowering costs.
Here's a very limited list of CMS providers that could provide the ALPA platform for about 100K, or the cost of one of the dozen current ALPA staffers.
Web Content Management System | CMS Software as A Service - CrownPeak
Social Media Marketing - Awareness Inc
Context Optional: Social network application development and social media strategy: Facebook Applications, Facebook Pages, Facebook Connect, and the iPhone
Social Networking Software | Sparta
On Demand CX Software Solutions | Customer Experience Management | RightNow
The list goes on, but my point is that Herdon's IT department is a hindrance to union communications, not an asset. It's time for them produce an industry LEADING IT product or be cast aside in favor of a company that can.
