In the middle of a week off, at a place several hundred miles from mecca, called for three T-tail right seat Airport Standbys for tomorrow.

After a long pull on a pint, a simple "no thanks" was all it took.

If they call you at 0700 for a field draft and you say your drinking an irish coffee you might get the "really you started at 7 am?" ..." No haven't stopped since last night"

Yea--only two calls last night/this morning--one for an ASTBY (no thanks), and an EMERGENCY call at 0140L for jumpseat on FDX to SLC-BOI-blah blah blah (no thanks) OR an out & back to LRD (even more no thanks).

I was worried, one of the seats they are the "most overmanned in" the A300 FO seat and they were having problems filling trips.

Not to worry, they apparently had reserves for the SLC rodeo (scheduled into operational duty limits as it appears) and luckily found a Cap LCA to fly the FO seat to LRD (former SCP). We can all relax now, this is just part of the <1% VLT/DRFT. Keep moving, nothing to see here.

Two days ago I get racked for a PM standby which immediately turned into an O/B to a wonderfully FRIGID location -- show up to the folder to meet the F/O and it's a Capt. Wait -- I finished IOE 2 years ago and this wasn't a line check. HMMM ....

Wait -- it's a 727 FLEX Captain called in for draft to be my F/O. Excellent -- at least he's junior to me -- LOL!

Some guys just don't get it and NEVER WILL. Each one of these episodes just continues to feed the 4a2b animal. The best part was he complained the whole time about the contract and all the 4a2b issues that have affected him so greatly..

Once I chimed in that I'd still be hanging out in the AOC working on my lines for January -- if his dumb arse didn't accept the draft call -- he pretty much became the GAFO from that point on.

Simply pathetic.

Actually, the guy he was paired up with told me while I was in AOC. Who knows maybe he was wrong. If there was a way I'm sure you would know.
