Default UPS- "Thinking outside the box."

Both sides want each other to come up new ideas for next weeks meeting.

Bring back to the table the early retirement program that was HOURS away from being signed. Make it available to the first 100- 150 pilots of ANY age that want it. In return, the union extends the MOU through 2012 with additional options added.

Does UPS want the full $131 mil?

The IPA thought outside the box last spring, now it's UPS's turn to find creativity!

This makes me go "hummm..."

"Outside the Box" = MOU + rollback of wages to 200? and a few other tasty contractual nuggets, don't you think?

To me, outside the box sounds like open up the contract!

Got that right! I do not see any other reason why this is being pushed back and back. They want something more than just the MOU and they can pound sand as far as I am concerned!

No, UPS wants $244.6 million through 2015, and they want that savings guaranteed...

Think outside of the box!?!?!? HMMMM...

-First and foremost stop treating employees like crap and treat them like the assets they are.

-Stop giving up market share, and try to win customers. This means actually utilizing assets, such as parked and paid-for aircraft, and resume service to La Paz, Santa Cruz, Lima, Manaus, etc (these are all former gateways - on only one continent).

-Stop denying 90% of sales leads

-Stop avoiding DoD flying

-Stop printing 2 inch FOM's every 6 months, along with all the other required manuals. Issue pilots laptops and convert all manuals to easy-to-update FAA approved PDF manuals with hot linked cross references. ****Might even avoid MEL related violations.**** Put all TO/landing performance calculations for every fleet in OPS (just like MD-11), add that to laptop and subtract from dispatch paperwork. Email bid packs to laptop. Laptop paid for within 6 months. JetBlue has been doing all this for 10 years - not for the hell of it, but because it saves them money.

-stop building sorts all over only to abandon them (DFW, CAE, CRK, etc).

-When buying a new airplane, buy a NEW airplane (772F vs 744F)

- when reserve coverage is adequate (10% per contract), let crewmembers drop trips unpaid on a first come first serve basis.

I heard the new number is 150 billion trillion dollars by 2050. Why not just say we are furloughing 2000+ guys and the IPA owes all of our salaries times 40 years. The stock price will go through the roof when the NYSE hears about the plan. Gotta go--time to double click and buy.

I say no to opening the contract, we have given enough. If they furlough I can guarantee I will spend the next 20+ years finding ways to "pay" them back. I can see why the 88 hires were so bitter1
