FDX Catering

Am I imagining things or did I just recently read somewhere that flights can be catered at the Captain's request regardless of duty time parameters? I thought it was in an FCIF, but now I can't find it anywhere.

I think it was here on APC...

Any idea which thread?

MaxKts 01-25-2010 01:17 PM

It was in Wildmanny's notes from a recent training class with "0"

I knew I had read it somewhere! Apparently OR forgot to tell the catering folks and the DO's this because I got the standard runaround today when I asked for catering even though my flight is 14 min short of the parameter. DO said he would let me know. Still waiting to hear.

This was yrs ago, but I remember on the Winnipeg-Grand Forks-Mem run the block time was like 5mins under the catering parameters, but where told (by the station manager) that if the capt. requested catering, the crew would get it. Which we did...? Also happened to us once in Subic, and we got the catering then..?? Go figure?

FWIW - I asked for catering on an am LAX departure a couple weeks ago and it was approved. The DO I talked to said they were getting more leeway in approving these kind of requests.

I didn't want to start a new thread so I revived this old one ...

Talk about bad inflight catering ...

Speaking of Fedex catering, do they EVER change the international hot meal menu items?

Just out of pure curiosity, what are the hot meal menu items?

pilot141 09-04-2011 03:17 PM

Corky's!

And a ginormous slice of chocolate cake with enough frosting to give you diabetes.

Haven't paid attention to what else they offer out of Memfo, since I'm always doing the heart-healthy ribs and cake diet.

Standard airline meals from the same catering companies that the airlines use.

Steak, chicken, fish, omelets, pancakes, pasta etc. It's just that if you fly to the same few places each month, you get pretty tired of the same menu every flt.

They have a pretty good selection on the 27, "Purple, Green, Blue, AND Orange". Bon Appetite!!! :)

At least they got rid of the Eggrito's

Ohhh....yeahhhh.....the Scooby Snack boxes also have a "Rip It" (different brand of 5-hour energy drink) and/or Crystal Light "energy" mix included in each box now.

But, we don't fly onerous/fatiguing pairings in the middle of the night here

P.S. Those slices of chocolate cake are AWESOME!!! :D

Using the word catering makes it sound so much better. That definitely would get old. Corkys is good though, one of my favorite places to stop in the airport in MEM, but eating that on an extended basis could cause some health problems.

The Corkys that we get on the aircraft is nothing like what you get at the real place. It is completey saturated in grease in our catering.

I thought you said it was different!

I'm thinking some Jim Neely's Interstate BBQ would also be a welcome change...
