The UPS contract decision comes after the tentative contract agreement reached Sunday by the union representing 4,700 pilots at rival carrier FedEx. The Memphis Commercial Appeal reported that offer includes a 9 percent initial raise plus 3 percent annual increases over a four-year contract. The agreement also includes seniority increases, the newspaper said.

What are seniority increases?

I think what they mean by that is your annual increase for Years of Service.

Of course, after 15 years, you get nothing for that.

Follow the link, then read the comment by the uninformed idiot that said if we work 4o hours per week, it equals 400K, and we shouldn't complain about our pay. Someone needs to set this guy straight, but I have to go to work now, so I don't have time.

Excellent point and that is why I am in favor of our payscale going out to 20 yrs. Think about it, once you make $240,000 an increase in B-Fund means nothing to you. At that annual income, the only benefit would be more $$ in your take-home pay.

IMHO anyway

Mawk,
Why would an increase above $240K/yr mean nothing to a B Fund?

The IRS limits for DC plans (total of all) is $42K/yr now I believe. The company can not put in more money towards your B Plan after your income hits $210K. But prior to that income limit, the company can put in what ever percent your negotiate up to a total of $42K/yr.

Anytime the B Plan percent is increased it's a good thing!

Default DC plans

130J...

The dc limit for 2006 is $44,000. The IRS limit is $220,000. 401K limit is $15,000. The total of your 401k contributions and the b plan contributions cannot exceed $44,000. In the event you max out your 401k ($15,000), the remaining for the b plan is $29,000. To max that out, your b plan percentage would have to be 13.18%.

Why try and only cover what you can't do with the 401K? More B Plan the better....
