Default Fedex hiring in 2011

I heard from a UPS van driver that Fedex will be hiring next year, so it must be true. Anybody know how many?

170 in the first few months of the year, with a total of 300.

... if it were only true.

Default 4a2b

I think they will keep the 4a2b game going until it gets beyond painfull for them and then open the floodgates on hiring.

FedEx will start hiring when some guys start retiring. That will be 5 years from when the retirement age was changed to 65.

I think they will hire while they are in 4a2b and rationalize some D.A. reason to justify it. And we will take it just like we have been taking it!

D. Defined Exit from Section 4.A.2.b.

1. If SAM meets or exceeds 68/85 CH for two non-peak consecutive bid periods the minimum bid period guarantee shall return to the normal limits

SAM for May is 66:54. We'll be bought up to about 67 anyway starting Sep.

You be the judge. With the few retirements trickling in, I think we may exit this year. Wildcards are folks that sold back vacation last year fearing the worst taking it this year. Residual irritation with staying in 4a2b over a year without being paid SAM like the DC10 loafers got. It all adds up.

As for hiring -

2. If the Company hires a pilot(s) and adds the pilot(s) to the Master Seniority List, other than pursuant to a court order or arbitration award, the Company shall exit Section 4.A.2.b. effective with the Date of Hire.

Is this a delayed April Fools Day? You heard from a 5X driver?

OK, who's got any insight on this rumor?

I've heard the verbiage "...other than pursant to a court order or arbitration award.." was added here because there is an outside chance that the Company may be "ordered", or perhaps "agree to", bring on all the Pro's who've been waiting on the sidelines during 4A2B (...beyond the 3 years specified in their contracts).

Thus, management actually could "hire" and add to our seniority list while staying in 4A2B.

Hmmm....I wonder how many Pro's would take an MD-11 to HKG right out of the gate, even with the current FDA package....???

Discuss!

Does Fedex require a resignation of seniority from all carriers that you currently have seniority numbers at. Soon, I'll have two.

Thanks.

Yes, and they have become very strict on making sure you actually resign.
