Maybe he's the same guy that wrote the flight safety report that he forgot to turn off his cell phone, and that it should be a checklist item....

You know the more I think about it, the writer of the FSR may have a point. Bada bing, bada boom.

Not trying to start a Mil vs. Civilian p!$$!ng match, but I am observing that it's nigh of impossible for a civilian guy with limited connections to get in the door there.

And yet the hiring mix has been about 50/50 since I have been here. No data, just my read on the Jr guys.

My numbers may be off but saying it is impossible for a civilian to get in the door needs to be backed up with some evidence.

Don't laugh, but it is in the AA Before Start checklist.
Whether you turn it off or not is up to you, but the checklist has a challenge and response for it.

Was this the recommendation practice 12-15 years ago? Only needed one in 1998 from what I remember. This would have been the earliest point in history that the writer of the FSR in question who is now in the left seat of an MD would have been hired.

It's kind of impossible for anyone with limited connections to get in the door. Yet, somehow we end up with close to a 50/50 mix in the last few waves (when 3 recs became the norm). So, obviously some of them have made enough connections and you're barking up the wrong tree.
