The charge of "illegal use of a computer" seems pretty benign -- I hope they come up with something more or this guy will likely show back up on operating flights. I don't think we have a "morals clause" in the contract so, unless he goes to prison and misses enough work to justify termination, I'm afraid there won't be enough anti-bacterial handwipes onboard to clean the yoke after he touches it.

How could you even show your face up for work after being accused of something like that?

You can't.

Unfortunate...besides the obvious issues, threw away millions...

If it is true, I would like to meet the check airman that will pass him on his next check ride.

Man, I hope you guys are correct. My lack of faith in our "justice" system has me concerned that he'll: cop a plea to a fairly minor charge (illegal computer use), claim it was all a big misunderstanding, and show up to operate his flights as scheduled. I hope not.

Couldn't resist! :D
In all seriousness though I hope he has a fair trial (so as far as I'm concerned he's innocent) and things go from there. Never a good day when a pilot is accused of being less than a model citizen.

Shaggy is right, you can't.

Even if this guy manages to "get off" (no pun intended), and is acquitted of the charges, nobody in his entire circle of friends (work or personal) will ever look at him the same way again. I would be creeped out just having him jumpseat on my aircraft (not that anyone would even allow that).

In a word, this guy is screwed.

Correction: 14 year old boy...

All addictions unravel to the point that they either consume a person or require intervention from an external source. No matter what happens in this legal case, he will self-destruct unless there is some serious intervention. Let's hope that he does not victimize anyone before the process of a personal meltdown causes him to be in a courtroom again, or he is led to a way out of a spiritual black hole. It is doubtful that he woke up in SDF that day and began this pattern of behavior. Let's pray that whatever former victims out there find help, heal and do not perpetuate the cycle of abuse.

Whatever cost to society is paid and personal forgiveness occurs, it is hard to imagine him back with a 121 carrier and our "most respected employer." What was the questionnaire checklist we had to fill out with the TSA a few years ago? I remember checking NO to about 20 different kinds of offences as a part of some kind of airline security screening. Was it a post 9/11 deal? Perhaps computer fraud is on the list? Is it a felony? Surely felonies were on that list. At least one more bidder below him probably got Christmas at home as a result.
