China Southern DH
I have a scheduled DH from DEL to PVG on Asiana (OZ), I was thinking of deviating and taking China Southern from DEL to PVG (first class).
Anyone ever DH on them? Service? They code share with Delta, so could use the extra miles.
Thanks

I once had a China Southern DH CAN-HKG in coach. I would best describe it as unreMARKable ... not great, not bad ... let us know how it turns out. Thanks
And the Asiana part sounds a bit scary to me ...

I flew them DEL-CAN last week in business class and it was OK. I slept most of the flight. The back is a cattle car though. For some reason my business ticket that I already had was changed to coach. I realized this and had corp travel rebook me in business. They said someone else changed the class? I was on the scheduled DH. So pay attention to being rebooked.

Not that it's related to your question but China Southern just put out an ad for cadet pilots.
Job requirements:
1) Willingness to pay RMB710,000 (USD107,000) for your training.
2) Willingness to sign a 15 year bond!!
3) Willingness to accept a salary of RMB200,000/year (USD30,000/year) once you complete your training (Salary maxes out for captains at about USD75,000/year).
Personally, I'd rather give my business to somebody else.

Did China Southern First Class from CAN - LAX (-777) a couple years ago. While it was no Cathay, it was decent. I'd compare it more to business class with one of the other carriers. It was a big seat that reclined probably 140 degrees or so, they fed us a couple meals that were ok, and I drank as much free beer as they would give me.
Never had a bad experience with Asiana, but on a long leg like yours it may be worth going with China Southern for the bigger seat.
Look at it this way: either carrier you go with will be taking you away from DEL so that alone is a great thing

This was in our union contract, not company policy.

We had to make a lot of changes to ensure we memoralized the chinese flying (the irish pilots were breathing down our necks; some say they still are ) but that is another story.
