I'm paraphrasing because it was last year and I don't remember the exact words, but it went something like this. Got the standard contact crew skeds message first. A bit later and relatively close to TOD they contacted us again to offer draft trip. They had no takers so far and were running out of time to get the trip filled due to some issue which I cannot remember. Told them I'd look at it on ground, said they wanted an answer now because of time issue. I got the specific trip info, then said nyet. They were still looking for someone when we got in, never did fill the trip from what I heard later.

That opened the door wide open for relevant comm both ways whether they approve it or not. Has anyone has ever called in fatigued or sick via ACARS?
I love this.
I wonder how they would like the response, "Date and time you received crew message for scheduling has been documented."
I love this.
Backstory: Pushed. Received ACARS message to contact Crew Scheduling upon landing at destination (>4 hours from MEM). ACARS message to GOC from us: was told "we do not know what they want" and "are not permitted to talk to scheduling" and upon our request to contact crew scheduling, we were DENIED

I put myself on fatigue once via ACARS.
Received a notification after gear up departing OAK for IND one evening. They wanted me to do an AM hubturn and operate IND/DFW rather that the planned 36 hour layover in IND. I told them I wasn't going to do that. GOC replied that Crew Scheduleing wanted me to contact them after landing in IND. Did that and they wanted to know why I couldn't operate to DFW. Told them I was up early in OAK since I hadn't planned doing a hubturn and was to tired. That was the the end of the story except they took me off the clock for the 36 hour layover then put me back on at show time for the return in IND. They took the 36 hour layover trip hours out of my sick leave bank and they even refused to pay perdium for that period. I think this was fixed in the last contract.

Here's one that I scratch my head on (a little off subject). I just put in a trade with open time request. I tried to trade a 5 day trip for a 6 day trip covering the same footprint just working an extra day and got:
"Your swap with open flying request reference number 162xxxx was DISAPPROVED because Insufficient Reserves"
What the heck? Was for next week, not anywhere near Christmas. Covers the same period plus an extra day and it's disapproved for Insufficient Reserves? I just don't get it.
