Line Holder
In Defense of O
It is easy to criticize our management pilots, but I know a lot of us have been at some point in our careers on the management side. You hear a lot of the criticism from folks who honestly think they understand the problems, but really (as Chuck T. implied) don't actually know all that goes on in those jobs. Sometimes the management guys can be a bit out of touch with some line issues, but that is the nature of working in the office more than on the line.
My experiences with O have been that he is professional and humble; he has let me know every time I asked him that he is only told so much, and that often much of what he has been told is changed by the time he speaks it! I appreciate that there are folks willing to do those jobs. My ACP (Dennis Ross) just helped me in an incredible way following a death in the family. O and all of our ACPs do have a tough job, being line number holders and working in management. They have to deal regularly with the small minority of our crew force who quite frankly and unfortunately are unprofessional.
In this season, I say to "O" and my ACP, a sincere and hearty "thank you" and "Merry Christmas."
