Crew Show for iPhone (good for all airline crew) has just been released to the iTunes store by one of our crew members and FxPilot (trip trading app for FedEx pilots) should be released very soon.

Starting February 10th, the iPhone will finally be available on Verizon. I was holding out for this day.

Skype + WiFi and skip the international roaming charges and network compatibility issues. (Of course, your on a leash to WiFi, but life is full of compromises, right?)

Not True. Looks like the Verizon iPhone will be global just like some of the Verizon Blackberry models.

Since AT&T has service to 220 countries and Verizon covers only just over 40 I'll pass on the Verizon I-Phone.The other small issue is that you will not be able to use Wi-Fi for Skype using any Verizon phone.

That's right. The Verizon iPhone will suck. Totally overrated. Don't buy it, please! I don't want the CDMA towers overloaded with old dudes watching "Matlock" reruns and comparing the latest prices on ensure and depends.

I guess if you don't fly to any part of Europe, Middle East, Africa, Australia the Verizon version will work just fine.;)

Ever heard of Skype? Wifi? Yeah don't buy it.

I've used Skype plus WIFI on my Verizon HTC incredible in Austria (no CDMA there). YMMV.

Verizon has a number of Dual and Quad band phones in addition to CMDA on them. My AT&T reception is terrible at home and would switch to Verizon tomorrow if GSM was also available on the I-Phone.

Will it fit in my glove compartment?

I do sometimes. It depends on the country, but I typically turn it on to receive texts and emergency phone calls from my family.

I do the same. It doesn't cost anything to turn it on for roaming, just be sure to disable the data and push notifications. (I think that's it) If I get a call I usually reply via Skype, and I can read texts, but it's expensive to reply. So again, I wait until I've got wifi.

But it's good to have the roaming if you really need it. Just be aware of the cost per minute if you answer or place a call.

$.50 to send a text, can't remember what it is to receive. Texting and then Skype is a great way to stay connected and having the phone on t=for the emergency call gives everyone peace of mind.

In most countries, receiving a text is free. You're right, $0.50 to send, so if I need to send one, I make sure it contains the whole message, not a 4 word message.

I forward my cell into my Skype with a skype in number. Costs $40 year. So when somebody calls my cell my Skype rings, on my computer or iphone if I have wifi. I keep INTL data off. I can still receive free incoming texts and reply for $.50 or call out.

I use google voice to text for free on my computer or iphone (with wifi) .

You could also fwd calls to a Google Voice number as well, which would send an audio file to your email!
