FDX - Dropping a month's Trips?
Has anyone taken a whole month off before without vacation and went in the hole for all the insurance fees and the lot? Just wondering if that is an issue if you work the next month. Do you just carry a negative balance and then it repays or do you get a nasty gram from mgt?
Does anyone care I guess is the question... Thanks, |
Not sure it matters, I was told you go in the hole and they take it back the next month. After a few months it may be an issue. If you are going to do mil leave though, make sure it reflects in the system, just in case something happens, just my opinion.

I did it once. Back then I got an email from payroll letting me know my pay would be around 0. They didn't pay some of my deductions for LTD, dues (from the previous month), etc. so I had to write a couple checks to the payees.

Someone just won the lottery....
I've fantasized about that for years, as we all have. First thing I would do was call my attorney. Then I'd disappear for a while. As to Fedex? I'd drop all my trips for the month. If I couldn't drop the trips...I'd simply call in rich. "Hi, my name's Tom, and I'm not going to make my trip tomorrow night. I won the lottery, so I'm officially calling in rich!" Heh heh! |

Thanks guys! I think this is one of the great benefits to flying here as long as they are fat enough on reserves to let you drop. Most of my buds at other airlines don't have the flexibility that we do when it comes to adjusting our schedules most months. Some of them couldn't even get yesterday off to watch the Packers make history again; what a shame!!

Except for the junior reserve who had to fly your trip.
Although the game is so late now that you can probably catch some of it if you launch Sunday afternoon even if your going to the west coast. |
Just a heads up... Some companies (like the one I'm at) have a minimum hr/mth clause in their LTD insurance that you must fly in the preceding months to be eligible for a claim (ours is 70). You may want to fire an email off to your R&I guys to make sure you don't have the same sort of limitation. I wasn't aware ours existed until one of our pilots had gone on disability and the 3rd party insurance company denied his claim because he had dropped his line down to 60 hours 5 months prior. I'm sure yours is probably much better, and probably not 3rd party, but you wouldn't want to inadvertanty expose yourself. (unless you're into that sort of thing ;) )
