Default Brown MD-11 Cockpit Configuration

Rode the J/S on a Brown MD-11 a while back and noticed that thrust levers were white. Anyone know why UPS seems to be the only airline with some of their airplanes configured like this?

Those are the JAL MD11's. That's how they ordered them, and UPS just left them that way. I guess they thought the white throttles looked good with their white gloves.
The other MD11's look normal.

Wow I flew those for 700 hours bored over the Pacific and couldn't tell you what color the thrust levers are. I guess I need to pay more attention to stuff.
What color should they be?

Looks like I need my monitor re-calibrated then.

Those are throttles. Like everything else ****ed up here at UPS, those are called throttles, like they are hooked to a carb or something. Hopefully all our new FQS get that right on the oral.

Anodized aluminum causes the black or bare metal effect. The real indicator is EPR or N1 at the top of the engine readout, that is the teller of truth for P&W or GE power. The levers in this case look slightly purple, a clue that the anodizing bath was slightly off.

We all laugh at the Boeing use of the word "thrust levers" while their manual and flight publication clearly states "autothrottles".

Here are the non JAL go levers without the white plastic overlay.

I'll take 'thrustlevers' for $100.
