Obviously 4A2B is planning on bidding the FDA.

Is this correct?

nope, not a chance (i did consider and will always look at any bidding options in the future). I do feel good knowing those going and those already there will be getting a nice bump. Still not good enough (money wise) for me to bid it and I doubt it ever will. I am pretty happy in my 15yr NB role ,mostly domestic, for now. There was some leverage in the FDA, I agreed, about 3% worth is all I see coming, so a bird in the hand worth 2 in the FDA.

You "no" guys have nothing to worry about if only people wanting to bid FDA's are the only ones with reason to vote yes. This is my reason, on top of "we will be in the same place either way": public school math in progress

lump sum = 2000k (approx)
raise = (6.35 * 884 CH at guarantee) 5600k
b fund = (7600 * .07) 532
per diem = i spend it all usually

so in the next 12 months i get about 8K (about 670 a month) to help pay for 4 dollar gas, or get nada? Easy choice with or without dreams of an FDA in my head. If I thought we had another option I would be the first one on board for a no vote.

Not sure why anyone would want to give up SIBA style trips for the TVM of a cost of living raise. But whatever! If you want to help the company out so bad you should just donate your check!

If you are on a 15 year NB, you might be ok.

However, if you are on "the bubble" and had visions of staying in America and getting a bump in your life style, I'd brace for impact if this TA goes through. When Fdx moves the bulk of it's flying to the FDA's, those domestic flyers could remain stagnant or even be looking at an excess. After you add your 3%, subtract your new lower seat pay or QOL and tell me how this deal will smell to you.

Select something more than 6 miles on that radar, let's see if there is anything else out there.

If I thought we, as pilots, had control of "giving" up any particular type of trip SIBA or otherwise by voting this deal down once again sign me up. Hate to be the bearer of bad news but the Company can and will find a way to get the most bang for the buck out of us as they always do.

SIBA type trips are great, so were every night trip into the hub being 1 leg in 1 leg out with min duty and almost all lines were double deadhead or weekend layover when I got hired (at 7 CH a day). System form and things evolve, I for one will never chase an aircraft (layover city) or type of trip ever again.

Give me guaranteed money, we got hosed by chasing arcane work rule "tricks" like GPE and duty rigs that cost "X" on paper and stayed on paper. Pay rate times guarantee, throw in a min pay per day formula and a 4a2b deletion or real fix and I am 90% happy for the next CBA. KISS, going forward for me.

As for donating my check, I want more, just like you, that statement is just weird? So wanting more money now is akin to being so company friendly that I should donate my check and work for free? As they say on ESPN, C'Mon MAN.:) You are reaching to say the least.

Everything you listed that you used to like that went away, disappeared due to bad contract language, side letters, poor negotiations. Just think what will go away with this TA. If people thought long term, and not the quick pay raise, we might be a little better off.

How long has the company been flying SIBA? Why didn't they hire the Irish 5 years ago? I guess the option is us flying the stuff or the company outsourcing our work. There really isn't any other way. The move things intraEurope. It's us or someone else. Until Airbuses and 757 can profitably move freight to Europe, it will be a Siba type operation.

I guess I'm not sure why everyone is so afraid what the company will do if we decide to turn down their $hit sandwich. Do you really think they are going to outsource the work? I don't. Plain and simple.

I don't disagree with you for the most part. Fix 4.A.2.b to our satisfaction, give us a small pay raise, Min pay for reserve day, accepted fares, real time trip trading, and a few small potatoes and I'm happy. The additional fixes aren't really that expensive to the company in the scheme of things. When I was surveyed, fixing 4.A.2.b. was one of my highest priorities (maybe the highest). Why should we even consider a deal that keeps it in place? The settlement for 4.A.2.b is garbage. Has everyone forgot so quickly now that the lines are up again?

I don't think we are that far apart from an agreement. Most people are pretty reasonable, but want a few major items and a few irritants fixed. Honestly, we could have a deal in a few months, easy if both sides want to turn this around quickly. One that could be a multi year deal that we can live with.

Kicking the can down the road does just that. I think it will delay a real deal and we'll be back in negotiations in one year with our TMV of raise and the company not interested in dealing with us.

But, at least we made sure that the union guys are well taken care of.

We are pretty close in opinion, all except one minor thing, the route. TBD on that.

Also, why do you guys have to continue to spread falsehoods with respect to the "Union guys" getting a lottery deal? First of all, we are the Union, and if you think the "guys" got something out of the language change in this TA, wrong on every count. Many discussions on this topic have been had. Simply not true, our elected MEC determines all pay for "union guys" not section 18 and if they wanted to give the MEC Officers a raise (i think they should) they can do it with OR without this language as they control it 100%. Ask your block rep, and report back that your statement is false. :) Cause it is.

golfandfly 03-13-2011 05:45 PM

Please read section 18. Are you telling me that there are no changes that effect pay of union workers? Really? Do I really need to contact my block rep to find this out?

Do I need to post all the changes? There shouldn't be any secrets out there.

Jetblack 03-13-2011 06:20 PM

G+F

Yes please post section 18 and show us where the MEC head shed are getting a pay raise. I have a public education so I had to read it, ask questions and read it again. Now I understand how it works.

Please enlighten us...
