And I count my lucky stars for not having flown the 727, but there was a time when I was getting about an hour a day in the aft belly! :)

You know, I've never had AIDS and I have no F%&Kin idea of what that is like either, but I do know that I don't want to know what its like! Isn't it great that we all own our own opinions! :)

You know, after I had been here for about 5 yrs and on the -11 for almost 4, flying almost exclusively long haul international, I'd have new hire classmates come up to me and say, "wow, how can you stand those 6+ hour legs?" After I explain that I was usually on duty about 8-11 hrs (No RFO) followed by 24-36 hr layovers, and they were on duty on average longer than that and with shorter layovers and more legs - I'd let them know that over the past 5 yrs they looked as if they had aged 7 yrs whereas I had only aged 6.5 yrs! ;) In all fairness, those intl duty periods are longer and the layovers are shorter since then!

Oh yea, and I could have gone to the left seat of the B727 in '01, but looking at the bidpacks and my relative seniority back then I would have made about the same pay per day based on number of days away from home, for me and where I live and commute from. We're on the same page!

Yeah, but when the SWA guy was still an FO, I became a 72 Cap. About the time that FO makes Cap, I'll either be senior enough to have a great schedule on the Boeing or jump to WB Cap. Do new SWA capts make over $200/hr.:D

Do New FDX 727 CAPTs make $200/hour?

Answer is ..................NO

Currently Upgrade to 737 CAPT at SWA and 727 CPAT at FDX is about the same.
+- 5 years. That could change for both of us.

I'll make you a wager. Look at the straight time Line guarantee of an AVG CAPT (narrow body) at both places.

The SWA Pilot will makes more take home and work 1 -2 less days to do it. I am not saying I want to work there but if you are going to make statments like that be ready to back them up.

We have many things that are better. A=Plan, B -plan and vacation. But Take home pay on the Narrow body ain't one of them.

$200/hr is our new WB capt rate. I'll only make $180. But 72 capt here is over a year earlier than SWA (from the APC Airline info pages.) So, I'm ahead for a year or so.
Yeah, but at 7 years, I'm only 90something numbers out of a WB left seat, if I want to go in at 100%.

I'm behind SWA after his upgrade, for a year or two, then way ahead, making the afore mentioned $200/hr.

Its not all gems stones

These SWA vs FDX comparisions are nice but hard to quantify (day duty long vs night duty short, less hours vs more hrs, etc, etc) the real comparision is with UPS and here I think we come up short (or to look at it another way, they come out ahead  ). An earlier UPS poster made the point, and no one took to answer/comment on it; since our WB rate is in essence, the same as there all body rate, we have, in comparision too UPS, a B scale for the 727. If our WB rate was highter than thiers, than we could (as in the past) look at our dual payrates as above thiers (for WB) but below for NB. can't say that anymore. :(

Exactly right, dckozak. We have a true B scale for our entire narrow-body fleet. We should be above SWA's pay by a good percentage, not below for a majority of the service years.

Seriously, our negotiators were asleep on this issue.

And some UPS pilots think that a NO vote would have helped us! At least on pay, I think we got a slightly better deal with our T/A...
