If you get screwed on a VTO, draft, volunteer, etc, always try to get CMU for the trip value that you lost.

Right you are! SUB, RAT or PMU are higher on the list.


Section 25.G.3.b. Open time not assigned as provided in Section 25.G.1. (above) shall be assigned in the following order:

i. SUB, RAT or PMU;

ii. Make-up:

(a) CMU

(b) M/U

(c) MUS (includes both MUS and MUD)

(d) MUV;

iii. AFB;

iv. RSV;

v. VLT;

vi. DRF

so is that CMU directed through ALPA because it is a contract violation or directly to scheduling.

Just flew with a captain who picked up a trip with general make up, but was taken off due to a "passdown error" between different scheduling shifts, trip was supposed to be given to another captain, but the on-coming scheduler missed this in the passdown log, and the capt I flew with picked it up. He called skeds, basically said "what the ****?", and they offered him CMU, on the spot. This was 8-10 years ago, so YMMV. Good luck.
