UPS recalls this week ? month ? year ?

If you believe the company stoges the letters are going out this week ...

Just don't shoot the messenger !

I heard this one on my weekend commute. They like to spread the BS to those most out of touch, so it seems.

I didn't believe it ... just like the last time this came up. I guess sometime it will work ...

Ya, and I have some swamp land in FL...........But, makes me wonder when they do send them out eventually if they will next day Saturday delivery my recall notice like they did my furlough notice. I'm thinking not!

CactusCrew 07-25-2011 04:07 PM

You are probably right. Look for a letter in your mailbox ... parcel post

L'il J.Seinfeld 07-25-2011 04:54 PM

Well, Lekites/Barr and now Thrush are gone. Let's all play nice and grow this airline. (After each furloughee is back on board, of course). I bet this happens AND 747-8 order in the next month.

Thrush taking one for the team and resigning is an admirable thing if true.

Freightpuppy 07-26-2011 04:51 AM

My guess is that it doesn't happen until they said originally that it will happen...in 2012 was it? I feel like they will lose money if they have to to show that they were right.

On a side note, I did hear a rumor that PD was told to ramp up the HR dept for hiring. Not seeing how that will happen anytime soon but take it for what it's not worth. ;)

Tyman 07-26-2011 07:03 AM

Where's AFlouisville on this?

Exactly which stooge told this lie is what I'd like to know?

The one who just magically upgraded to Captain, or the one who is still doing IOE after rolling the jet inverted (in the sim) and crashed it into Hong Kong harbor?

All I am asking for is a name so I can remember to give him a nice thank you for getting everyones blood going for no reason at all.

I could be wrong, of course; but I doubt it.

Expect to NEVER go back to work here and look for someone half-way reputable that will overlook the brown stain on your back (right) and you'll find your disposition will be much better, or worse......

YMMV

Bottom line (not shooting the messenger) I call BS.

Freightpuppy 07-26-2011 09:29 AM

Speaking of the brown stain....if you put "Willing to resign seniority number" on your resume, you think that might help?

It doesn't help with good US companies.

That is the funniest thing I have heard in a month. Which Thrush spin doctor is pumping that bull out?

aflouisville 07-26-2011 02:40 PM

I heard the same rumors too. Just wait for the NPRM.

ERJ Jay 07-26-2011 03:38 PM

I hope everyone can be back by peak, it would be a nice Xmas present to be able to put food on the table - even if you're on reserve getting "optimized".

Buck92 07-26-2011 04:37 PM

No chance. They won't call before they have a training slot (otherwise they'd have to pay us for nothing). They would have already had to start training by now...no way they can train 106 folks by Nov.

It's not 106 but 104. Of the 104 I know of 6 on mil orders and I'm sure there are more. I'd say probably only 60-70 want to be back by peak anyway. They can train 60 guys by then between ANC, SDF, and ATL/DEN.

That sucks.

Freighter Captain 07-27-2011 07:23 AM

An Anchorage ACP told me that UPS told him that they predict the NPRM will cause approximately 600 training cycles, which translates into 300 pilots [100 furloughees return and then hiring off the street for the remaining 200].

My speculation: Large system bid in September, after the NRPM becomes law in early August.

Also, according to ACP we are getting 747-8s, including taking the slots of another customer or something like that.

Take with a grain of salt, but that ACP has been reliable in the past with his info.

I guess we'll have to wait for Congress to fund the FAA (and the rest of the government) first.

nathanexplosion 07-27-2011 08:40 AM

Anyone want to bet they use this budget fiasco to further delay the finalization of the NPRM?

Where his lips moving? Do you really think the company tells these idiot ACP's anything of value? Believe it when you see it.

I believe part of the FQS' "duties" are to blow positive BS through out the system.

Xtwinbeechguy 07-27-2011 11:01 AM

Oh wow!!!! With this exciting news I should turn in my two weeks notice and buy that new car my Wife wants.
Or not.

Like I said, take it with a grain of salt.

Don't let your reflexive negativity cloud your gaining some knowledge about this company. The doomsdayers within the IPA will deny any positive rumors as a grand conspiracy to excite the ranks, and it gets old after awhile.

Yes, lips were moving, but just look at our own IPA president that's stepping down suddenly. His lips were moving quite a bit, I believed him (we got the cards!), and where did he get us?

Right now I'll be as open to hearing something from the company than from our Bob T.

MD11Pilot 07-27-2011 04:16 PM

My positive demeanor was reduced on February 8th, 2010, and May 23, 2010. I'll believe the recall rumor when my recall letter arrives via parcel post.

OK, well I stand corrected -- 104 vice 106. Since I was responding to the "hopefully everyone..." comment, I stand by what I said -- NO WAY 104 recall letters will go out by peak. I certainly hope they do. IF 60 guys are back by peak, post again to remind me and I'll mea culpa. I don't think even that many will receive letters in 3 months. And you now know a 7th guy on mil orders.

Jonathan E 07-28-2011 02:01 PM

UPS blows BS up our ACPs holes too.
About 3 months past our last amendable date, one ACP friend earnestly told me that we were 2 weeks away from a contract. The big guys (laboe) had briefed all of them on this. I laughed and told him we were 2 years away.

So remember, the brown nasty stuff flows all directions around here.

:)

Jonathan E 07-28-2011 02:02 PM

That should be

(labor)

aflouisville 07-28-2011 02:08 PM

I predict right after NPRM a large bid of some sort

SKMarz 07-28-2011 02:14 PM

Does anyone know whether the new rules will be delayed due to the shutdown? Tried to look it up yesterday but couldn't find anything.

Straight from UPS manpower planning. If the proposed NPRM is implemented in August we could see a recall of at least 103 furloughed pilots. The industry average for all airline recalls usually runs around 70 to 75% as an average that return to work. We shall see what the actual NPRM looks like once released!

Hahahaha. Seriously? This is your prediction? Wow, thanks Albert Einstein.

At least its better than your prediction of recalls five months ago, and then you're assurances that the FQSs had turned in enough cards, etc... Come on Bob, stop the charade. You have no credibility left. Give it up. Nobody believes you're a retired manager living in FL still keeping tabs on the old airline.

If the charade wasn't so sad it'd be funny though. Be sure to come back and tell us all how to vote on the contract since you're a trusted and credible source. That's what I'll be waiting for.

Better yet, just give it up and pick another screen name.

What previous furloughee had $150/hour in which to return?

Probably none ... but we won't get 100% return either.

The truth lies somewhere in between !

Tigerpilot1995 07-28-2011 06:35 PM

I don't believe for a second UPS doesn't have this NPRM railroaded.

UPS higher ups start these rumors with the Ms when the Ms are working their asses off. This keeps them from revolting for a bit as they think the end is in sight.

freightretriever 07-28-2011 07:08 PM

Seriously......all these rumors are pinned on the NPRM????? Wow, what a good laugh. I think I'll try my luck with a lottery ticket the chances are probably better. :(

You're there now? I thought you weren't starting until the middle of August.
