What is the UPS training class schedule like ??
 

Can anyone tell me what the class schedule is like for UPS new hires?? ie: M-F 8-5?
weekends off to visit family?
Approx. how long?

Another question I have is how they determine who gets into what A/C? During the interview do they ask what you prefer, or is that too complicated and just assign you somewhere?

For the most part, indoc and systems are M-F 8-5. Yes you do get weekends off until sim. Sim can be any day of the week at any hour of the day or night. If you are the oldest in the class you could choose weather you wanted to be an FO or SO. If you are going to a class of pure FO's, I do not know how they determine where and what AC you go to. It may also be done by age. Plan on a full 3 months of initial training from day 1 to release to the line. You may get time off between your ride and IOE.

Varies, My bud just started class last week and he was one of the youngest at 36.

Yup :) That's ok though because if we stay in business that long you will retire in the top 10 :D

I think 20 years would be my limit at UPS. Hopefully the investments pay off.

Let's see if I can summarize what I'm hearing (reading):

Class seniority is determined by age.
Aircraft and domicile assignment is determined when you show up for class.
Hotel is paid for by the company until the end of IOE.
Various hotels are used in town (up to three of them).
Indoc is a Mon-Fri 8-5 schedule with weekends off.
Commuting home for the weekend is possible if you live reasonably close to SDF.
Once in sims, schedules vary from person to person with days off not necessarily the weekends and not necessarily for only 2 days.
Uniforms and bags are issued to you on the company.

What have we missed?...

How about pay while in training?
When does longevity start? (i.e. when do you get off probation? A year after date of hire or end of IOE?)

You get per diem while in training and your salary, which equates to 33k/year. The per diem is about $50/day. Probation ends on your date of hire plus 1 year date. Mil leave must not exceed 1/2 of your work days or you lose benefits and that month does not count towards probation. However, your pay will be inceased on your anniversary date regardless of how much mil leave you take.

Pay is a real good deal with per diem plus salary while a new hire. I can't wait for class to start now! Brown rocks! I keep expecting a catch somewhere on the new hire terms but I keep finding good news! Must be cynicism from my old legacy days... Glad they are behind me...
