Are you saying there are only positives to taking the "last" slot to cgn? Just the opposite I am not the one that makes the WB captain assumptions that would be your buddies who said take the slot at all costs.

Again is it your thesis that one should take the 1st slot available because FDX might quit hiring and then not take into consideration what other possibilities could happen if FDX quits hiring?

Lag,

Below are your quotes (shortened for brevity's sake). Do you not see the negativism in them?

I was just pointing out that if you hold the last ticket to cgn you could be there a while at the bottom of the list. I know I wouldnt do that if I had a family and 2 or 3 school aged kids.

But either option combined with 4A2b could put a hurt on anyones finances that 2 or 3 more years at WB captain 20 years from now may allow you to break even.

And by the way Lag, I never discussed CGN, in fact I specifically addressed my comments toward Anchorage only. As for your final comment above, I guess that "Yes", I would advocate taking the first FedEx slot available, not because FedEx might stop hiring, but because your overall quality of life, over the course of your FedEx career, will be better than if you waited for an opening that might (or might not) come. I do however agree with you that there's downside implications that should be factored in with the upside ones to come to a good decision.

YMMV

So, for those of us not familiar. What is 4A2b?
Trying to follow the thread and not sure what that is.
Thanks

Why yes my post was negative on a scale of 1 to 10 probably a 6, does that make it less true. As I said all the other posts were all positive why should I have repeated what they said. My intent was not to challenge any of the positive comments just point out the downside. You admit that there are downsides, but found it objectionable that I brought them up:confused:.

I also said in his shoes I would go to ANC. I also said I would probably go to CGN if I didnt have school age children.

It is were the company can unilaterally decide to cut our monthly hours by seat. Supposedly to delay or prevent a furlough. In reality whenever they arent hiring and decide they want to.

First of all, I believe that JJ has retired.

I've also wondered if fdf was really JJ in disguise? JJ seemed to go away about the time fdf showed up? They both flew A-10's? They both seem to subscribe to the "OVER 60 guys have the right to stick around, you don't know what their situation is" philosophy??? Hmmmm???
