FDX Class Dates?

In regards to initial training at FDX I have been told:

- You start with Indoc Training - 2 weeks
- Followed by several days off
- Followed by 6-8 weeks of training depending on air frame

My questions are:

How often does FDX offer Indoc Training a month? once, twice, more
Based on current hiring about 20 a month, does everyone go through Indoc together?
Will there be Indoc classes through the holiday season (Nov-Jan)?
Does anyone know the current schedule (dates) over the next few months for Indoc training?

I am waiting on a phone call for training. I am trying to lineup Guard orders in the mean time. Any info would help.

Peace

I don't think there will be many more classes starting this year. There might be one or maybe two small ones, but right now there is nothing on the classroom schedule for basic indoc through the end of the year, other than the class that is in there right now.

Things can obviously change, but by my count there are about 10 new hires who would need indoc by the end of the year, according to the new hire slots on the various training letters. 5 for ANC MD-11, 2 for EUR 757 and 3 for HKG A-300.

The slots are fairly spread out so I don't know if they would do one BI class or split them up, my guess would be one class of 10 and then have them wait for their training slot.

The last time I was in the training building, I saw a whole class full of newhires, one wearing a spiffy conductor's vest. All faces were beaming. I would expect an Indoc class to be scheduled based upon future unfilled training dates reserved for new hires.

Congratulations on getting to the position you now find yourself. My best advice to you is to be the first one to Memphis after that phone call comes. Don't be out of the country doing your annual tour as the squadron tactics officer, wondering if it would be OK to be day late. You've come a long way, don't screw it up now.

I know a guy coming to Indoc in Oct for a ANC MD-11 slot.
So at least there will a class in October and heard rumor of perhaps some small ones in Nov/Dec. (Seems like the rumor of no more MEM based new hires has held true so far.)

The last few months they have had one InDoc class a month, and then have the folks go to training in the subsequent weeks, i.e. some have a week off, some have 3 weeks off.

Good luck!

Congrats on the job and hopefully you won't have to wait too long.

Thanks for the update. Been waiting since early July, but waiting for a MEM base.

I think the writing is on the wall ... you'll be waiting much longer than your buds. At least you'll be in MEM

Gutsy move, Maverick.:)

Gutsy move indeed but it sounds like you've got the bases covered w/Guard duty. My 2 cents.... you've kept your powder dry since July so it sounds like the Guard is paying the bills -- that's good. And you've obviously considered the FDA's to be a non-player for you for whatever reason and that's good too IMHO -- you've done your homework. But to echo Popeye, I would be in MEM if they call. I wouldn't be taking a 30 day TDY ANYWHERE! If possible, I'd stay close to home unless FedEx will tell you of a class date otherwise.

Unfortunately (in this case - for you), I just met a new hire who got called on a Thurs for a following Monday class date. If you're on orders in BFE, you're going to be SOL.

I hate to say it, but each and every seniority number that's above you can mean tons of money over the course of your career. I understand that you are working at the Guard, and that you really have no interest in being based in either ANC or any of the foreign domiciles, but ANC might have been the better move, considering the long term implications of this industry, and where you fit within it. However, if you're happy, than that's really all that counts. Best of luck, and get aboard soon.
