National

Anyone have any info on National airlines, the cargo carrier based in ypsi?? would like to know pay, days on/off, and type of missions. Is it a decent outfit? or just another scumbag freightdog outfit, and i might as well be working for connie Kalitta?

Thanks for input.

You are assuming you could get hired by Connie. Given the attitude displayed, I highly doubt it.

I am pretty certain with your attitude you couldn't get hired by K4.

aafurloughee 11-02-2011 02:14 PM

wow!! looks like some thin skinned freight dogs on here. Definitely not what it used to be.. Lighten up boys!! didn't mean to hurt your feelings, and no I wouldn't want to work for Connie. so I guess that works out. and yes he is a scumbag. a leopard don't change his spots! Is it Attitude or just the blunt truth.

Funny just got a pm from a guy who was hired in april and furloughed shortly there after. he didn't seem taken back by my post as you both were. Lemme guess, youmust be in management. You boyz are good drones, keep drinking the koolaid, and i'll just be on my way.

AA,

It isn't that we are thin-skinned...it however speaks volumes about those that would have never looked at any freight-dawg outfit even if that were the last job in the world (and that includes FDX and UPS, if you can believe that...don't know what it is about flying pax at UA, US, jetBlue, etc that turns them on...I'm so over that scene).

That said, I hope that your new-found airline-world-view will serve you well...until FDX and UPS call you though, if you need to find work flying big airplanes freight-dawg outfits might be the only game in town.

As for the legacy carriers, I can't imagine going to ANY of them right now...with SWA as a possible exception. But, damn those boys work hard flying 3 legs a day!!

Good luck...

Gee, when I leave FDX at 61 with my full retirement, should I consider going to work at SWA, or is just another scumbag pax outfit like those guys at DFW.

Furloughed from where? K4? I think not... if thats what he said either he is the liar... or you are. K4 has been hiring steadily for over a year.

Any word if they are accepting apps or hiring? I saw nothing on their site-thanks.

capto 11-02-2011 07:52 PM

aafurloughee what world are you living in??? perhaps if that operation in dfw was so great you wouldn't be looking for a job now; that being said not everyone wants or has to work for connie there' re other places out there like that other parent company of your prestigious employer called eagle at least there you get to be very proffesional and get compasated a wopping 25k...

727C47 11-02-2011 08:59 PM

i think he has been driven from the thread wailing, weeping, with his tail tucked between his legs.

aafurloughee 11-03-2011 08:53 AM

ah nope!! just wondering why everyone is offended?? all i said was that flying for connie sucked (when I did it) and thought he was a scumbag we are talking mid 90's here folks. Just wondering if National was the same theme. Kind of like those scumbag 121 outfits and 135 outfits that are out there( and I too have had the misfortune of dealing with them). Everyone has had to deal with them and has been bent over. they might have a different name that's all. Not saying all freight outfits suck, just know that when I had my dealing with connie, he bent me over. so did some other outfits. and no the legacy is not the be all to end all. Funny how people get all defensive. Sheesh, Guys it don't matter if you fly boxes, people, big planes, little planes. It's all about PMD, pu>>y, Margueritas, and Daysoff. Anyhow wasted enuf time with this thread. Have fun at your job. Hope they are not scumbags, and if they are good luck getting on elsewhere.

727C47 11-03-2011 09:51 AM

no worries brother

BOGSAT 11-03-2011 10:11 AM

aa-

Any word on active hiring there? Thanks

lionflyer 11-03-2011 10:25 AM

K4 has come a long way since the 90's. Hopefully the new contract will be something worthwhile. If you think Connie is a scumbag operator then National definitely is. I just flew with one of their ex FE's. At National, you are on a 1hr notice 20 days a month, salaried, no CBA. Anybody whose been around the block knows what that means.

NCR757dxr 11-03-2011 11:06 AM

No hiring, some furloughing happened about two weeks ago......

It has been over 18 months and the 757 is still not on their operating certificate. There is a pretty strong rumor that they are already dumping the 757 program and may have cancelled the other 4 on order. Some how they are also getting sued by BAX Global? Don't know all the ends and out on that one, especially since National was only used as a hot-spare in TOL.

Seemed to have good people working there when I interviewed. Really had a nice business plan but I guess they tried to undercut a lot of other companies on contract flying and are now considered "that guy" in addition to their other issues.

Their DC-8-60 (the white one) was put into temporary storage at YIP for a few weeks but was pulled out to do some flying. Since then, however, its just been sitting around. Don't know where the two DC-8-70s are at.

727C47 11-03-2011 12:14 PM

ive seen their 8's in Liege, tough to make it with a narrow body international in this day and age, though Astar is still hanging in there with their stretch 8s, and ive seen a few vagabond 8s in and out of Bahrain.

HercDriver130 11-03-2011 12:44 PM

Rode out to the cargo ramp the other morning in Liege with a couple of their mechanics for the -8 that was there, it was there for several days.
