FedEx AOC Crew Lockers

Everybody happy with the new plan to remove the crew lockers in AOC to make room for the sleep rooms? I salute the addition of sleep rooms but not at the expense of losing our lockers. Maybe JB forgot to mention where the new and improved lockers will be located. At least I have an airport car that might be placed in duty as a surogate locker for the time being. :(JMHO

FDXLAG 02-18-2012 11:05 AM

I heard the new plan was to slap some doors on the luggage racks by the bus stops.

KnightFlyer 02-18-2012 11:14 AM

I need a locker 1.5" x 1.5" x .5" in size.

FDXLAG 02-18-2012 11:25 AM

If they would just email me that they need such and such paperwork for your flight on 13 aug 2003 than I could do without the locker altogether. I could also respond that I dropped that paperwork off in EWR much sooner.

Jetjok 02-18-2012 12:23 PM

Oh no! Where will I store the past 4 years worth of unused radiation badges that they continue to put in my locker, month after month?:D

Mono15 02-18-2012 03:26 PM

When I was hired at FDX we had lockers to store our Jepps bag, get our Jepps updates and any communication from the company. Since then we have gone to Lido and use e-mail much more frequently. So yes, I can give up my locker for more sleep rooms. I’m dismayed we will lose the recliner room. I haven’t heard of a plan to replace the recliners.

Fedex999999 02-18-2012 03:57 PM

I'd still like a place to put my crap. And be able to leave crap for other guys.

Will GLADLY take the additional sleep rooms over lockers.

And a new policy that opens up these additional sleep rooms to anyone arriving/departing within 12 hours of a trip or training event.

Cumulative sleep debt/fatigue is a huge SAFETY issue...and an adequate # of sleep rooms, and revised usage policy, is a major step in the right direction.

I will take SAFETY over "storage conveinence" any day.

MX727 02-18-2012 04:24 PM

What lockers? We have lockers?

Check 6 02-18-2012 05:23 PM

Haven't used my locker in years. But I do use the sleep rooms at least twice a month. I vote for 500+ sleep rooms.

You can have my locker....and....kick all the non essential office people out of the entire building....

We will get the 500 plus sleep rooms but no additional bathrooms.

Somehow, these two posts relate...Butt, I just can't put my finger on it.

Wow, two pages and we have already sunk to the bottom. Thread closure in 3,2,1…

C'mon man...I mean listen, we're sitting here talking about lockers, not sleepin, not sleepin, not sleepin, but we're talking about lockers. Not the sleep that I go in there and die for and try to get every night, like it's my last. But we're talking about lockers man. How silly is that? When you come to the airport, and you see me fly, you've seen me fly right, you've seen me give everything I've got, but we're talking about lockers right now?

Reporter: "But it's an issue that your fellow APCers continue to raise?"

Hey I hear you, it's funny to me too, hey it's strange to me too but we're talking about lockers man, we're not even talking about sleepin, when it actually matters, we're talking about lockers.

Wait....what are we talking about again? :-)

Check 6 02-19-2012 06:27 AM

Mr. Busboy:

Many people think lockers are important. That lockers contribute to sleeping. That lockers make you a better sleeper..... What do you tell a new hire that is trying to find somewhere to put his stuff, but can't? "Don't worry about your stuff....it doesn't matter when you are sleeping?"

You, Mr. Busboy are a selfish, egotistical veteran that has lost touch with reality.... Lockers are IMPORTANT! :D:D:D

Busboy 02-19-2012 06:55 AM

The workers at FDX deserve to have a winner. It’s simple as that. It goes further than that … If I don't have a locker, I don't have a locker. If I'm tired, I'm tired. It is as simple as that. It ain’t about that at all. It’s easy to sum it up if you’re just talking about lockers. We’re sitting here, and I’m supposed to be the captain, and we’re talking about lockers.

I know I supposed to use them. I know I supposed to lead by example. I know that. And, I'm not shoving it aside like it don't mean anything. I know its important. I do, I honestly do. But, we talking about lockers, man.

Lucky7 02-19-2012 07:43 AM

Happily give up the locker as long as the new rooms don't become de facto crash pads for cheapa@@ who can't spring for a place while on R. 129 sounds like a lot until people start moving in....

I have always dropped off lost paper work in IND honest

Ding.....Ding.....Ding......we have a winner!!

This is EXACTLY what the extra rooms will turn into - it's not that they "can't spring for a place while on R" - they're just too cheap & won't.

Besides, the company "owes them" a free sleep room/crash pad, don't they? QOL for commuters & all......;)

Dadof6 02-19-2012 09:16 AM

Whoever clears out the locker room better wear MOPP-4 / HAZMAT gear. Some of the things lurking in the locker room (flight bags, golf bags, bicycle-in-a-box, etc.) haven't been touched in a LOOOOONG time. No telling what critters & spores lurk in that place. Remember Andromeda Strain?:D

I would contend, IMHO, that it's WAYYYY overdue time to clear out our collective garbage. But that's just me. Let the flaming begin.

Just think, 129 more opportunities for college educated professionals to slam the doors because they are too stupid to shut the door quietly. Also, I once knew a wide body captain that would brag about sleeping in the recliners during his semi annual training. You can't make this stuff up.

Mono15 02-19-2012 10:08 AM

For those of you getting ready to sign up for a new sleep room, you needn’t bother. As briefed by our very own MEC last week, the new sleep rooms are in anticipation of FAR 117. Crews that need them for their schedule will have them assigned. Everybody else gets one of the sleeping bags not claimed during the locker room purge. Don’t let the mold or bugs bother you.

not too stupid.....they just don't give a flip about anyone but themselves.

I - My - Me - Me :(

Always thinking outside of the box,...

What if they gave us lockers that were large enough to sleep in?
fbh

Mono15 02-19-2012 03:54 PM

Brilliant!

Why do I have the feeling that "Speedy" is going to start saving even more money soon?

That would be more like thinking inside the box.

Hope new sleep rooms have some thickness (sound proof) to the walls

FDXLAG 02-20-2012 08:31 AM

I hope they have a different ringing phone. I like to count how many dude have theirs set for 0200. Record so far is hearing six alarms, course I'm bit deepf.

Laughing_Jakal 02-20-2012 08:48 AM

Amen, Amen, about the door slammers. More and more people I fly with tell me they don't even try to get a sleep room because the noise is so bad. Perhaps we should take a sleep room or bathroom door to the sim building for recurrent training like we do for cabin doors, cockpit doors, slides and all that fun stuff. Stupid I know. But we have met the sleep room enemy, and it is us.

Great idea....make it mobile, and take it to New Hire Indoc too! :D

More seriously, can't they just add some type of pnuematic arm on the top of the doors where they can only close slowly/softly???

appDude 02-21-2012 04:52 AM

On the serious side, how about smaller lockers, just big enough for a set of keys, or a letter? Should be able to have that and the sleep rooms.

I don't need any of that. I don't need all that stuff. I don't need a big locker. I don't need anything. Except a set of keys and a letter and that's all I need...And, the recurrent gouge. A set of keys, a letter and the recurrent gouge and that's all I need...And, my ALPA-PAC stickers. A set of keys, a letter, the recurrent gouge and my ALPA-PAC stickers and that's all I need.:)

Agree....sort of a wide mail box with the same combination lock and delivery hole the lockers have now.

It could be slightly larger than the width of a crew folder and maybe 4-5" tall.

Concur. Very helpful. I'm certain it would be used by many of us.

Gunter 02-21-2012 06:54 AM

Can't wait to hear from management, "Want lockers? negotiate for them."

APC'ers who don't use their locker, "Let's not negotiate with ourselves because I have other plans for that money"
