I know some of those guys too!!!!! A couple were SADF, etc. Interesting stories they have from those days. Fighting the Border War, working with the Recces, etc.

With the new PhD guy from Delta in charge of hiring, the sponsor thing is not really important anymore. The Company has further restricted it to the following: You can only sponsor one person at a time, you must have flown with the person at a previous job etc. I don't think anyone really knows the key to hiring at Fedex even the guys like myself who currently work there. All I can say is this PhD type is going to screw it up and we won't know it for 3-5 years. Good luck.

That guy's original post might well be the first chapter in:

You're hired.

add me to the MD11 type, as well as 747, A320 and 4 others, 6000TT+ 121 PIC etc... group who DIDN'T GET A CALL... on top of that I'm now furloughed from a cargo 747 company.

Reason why? I'm 99% sure it's that lack of internal sponsor... On the one hand I understand the desire for an internal rec, and on the other hand I find it to be a horrible reality.

Silly me?

true that!

I googled that... Women in Aviation... sort of the woman version of OBAP, only from what I've seen in the real world over 20 years of flying is (at least white) women don't need any kind of hand up... most are rich captains' daughters or at least come from upper middle class families... the OBAP handouts usually go to some inner city thug who turned his life around and did it usually not only on his own, but against a lot of odds..

The number of white women who want to get into flying, and actually succeed is far out of proportion to the average population of straight white male pilots I'd be willing to bet.

Not saying I like either organizations, but at least the one has "some" reason to be asking for help from the HR departments at the airlines.
