I've been curious about what the company would do if the 2 practice bids for the upcoming bid show nearly every pilot leaving HKG.
Cancel the bid....they've done that before too.....

Is that why you flew wide bodies for 80k for 2 yrs?;)

I looked at all the training letters.

It's kind of hard to spot when the real classes end, and when the LCA / A65 etc. begin.

Here's a rough guess. There are classes scheduled past these dates, but they don't look like a full training schedule:

A/C--------Last full class

30------ 07 May
27------ 21 May
57------ 02 July
777----- 25 July
11------ 20 August

Impending training in mid-July which I've decided I no longer want...I don't have my contract handy. What are a person's options if they decide hey don't want to go to training? Two year seat lock?

Yep. Exactly. But really, it puts the company in a bit of a problem. You can't very well let the other fleets not to be replenished with a bid just because you're worried about having HKG go unfilled. You'll always have your captains filled over there, so even if a significant portion of guys left, you can SIBA it and just keep pumping it full of new hire FOs...until you close the whole thing down...please!

Therefore, the March/April bid will be along in July/August, just like always.

WM :)

Of course not.

I believe they need/want various unresolved FDA issues dealt with before putting out a bid that will have US based primaries and secondaries available that nearly any FDA pilot can hold, coupled with then having to fill the empty slots left by vacating FDA crew members.

I could see this bid delayed for some time.

Is this speculation or your gut feeling?

He becomes delusional when he forgets to take his meds. We flew widebodies for 80K for 2 yrs while UPS has had 470 guys on furlough for 16yrs.

If FDX (for all those who need the input) puts newhires into the Airbus, 72 and 75, the bid doesn't have to come until June.

That's even without messing with current manning and making a couple of bid packs short.

If history is a guide, they might just have an excess bid out of the 727 to fill training slots ahead of any vacancy bid. Or, economy dependent, more excess bids.

Notice I didn't say "fill vacancies". They might choose to have an excess bid out of the widebodies after training is under way for the excess out of the 727. It worked before
