FedEx New hire timeline
Can anyone comment on the timeline once hired for a FedEx new hire in regards to length of BI, typical waiting period for A/C specific training, and then IOE?
Her is my findings:
BI = 2 weeks
Wait = ~2-4 weeks
School = ~5 weeks
Wait = ~2 weeks
IOE = 4 weeks
Average process takes about 4 months...meaning 4 or 5 months @ 2K per month. This is family planning question...not a pay question...not seeking a discussion about the 2K per month...already been enough of that. Can Any recent new hires share their experiences?

Concur with cloud sailor for planning purposes. I took me just under 3 months from start of BI to completion of IOE. A little advance planning can take the sting out of 3 months on training pay.

Okay here's the current timeline as of April 2012:
BI 2 weeks
Mandatory time off 1 week
Initial training varies from 5 weeks (757) to just under 3 months (MD11)
IOE also varies from 1 week (727 S/O) to 2 weeks (flying seats requiring 25 hrs/min 6 legs)
You activate at the end of IOE (new payrate at this point) and as a newhire you are guaranteed 7 days off. The rest of that month will be a custom line to bring you up to the required number of workdays so that will vary based on when in the bid month you finish IOE.
Also, your initial training class could be delayed as they wedge you into the training letter (although there are predetermined slots for newhires in most cases.)
I like Cloud's recommendation for 5 months as a conservative estimate.

For the MD11, most guys I've seen that take 3 months count from the first day of MD11 training to last day of IOE. IOE is the wild card. How many days off before you start, how many legs/ocean crossings, etc. The new syllabus is slightly shorter but 2 1/2 months is still a good bet from start to hitting the line.
