Let me help all achieve enlightenment.

When things suck real bad you can't give it to anyone but a newhire.

Widebody seats with the most newhires suck the most.

We all wish things didn't suck as much as they do.

Stirring the pot? Nope. I think it's absurd that because of a few, a whole segment of our 'group' is referred to negatively...at least that's the way it seems.
And I counter your mad face with this::)

My impression of the Toolbox reference is that it is generally focused on the left seat, not the F/Os.

If I put a flower next to the screwdriver my toolbox, I don't stop calling it a toolbox.

Perception sometimes is reality.

If that's true where did they come from again...the street? Or a mini-toolbox prior? So what, the Mad Dog is a tool box too? Or you said they concentrated in one place...so all airplanes are toolboxes, or just some airplanes are toolboxes some of the time...therefore better start drawing Venn diagrams?

There are "tools" in both (all 3) seats of every fleet here at FDX (you all know it's true) - the 777 left seat variety have just been "in the news" here on APC most recently

That is too funny to let slide without some props,

I believe what we are witnessing is a sea change in culture. When we acquired the 777 it initially attracted quite a few very senior folks who hadn't been (if ever) OUTCONUS in a very long time. Consequently quite a few gaffes were made by said group resulting in humorous helmet fires in the left seat. In addition this same cadre came from an era when they did pretty much as they pleased, FAR's, CRM and Jumpseaters not withstanding for a very long time. Now, with these "Gents" fairly concentrated in their seat, a reputation, event by event has emerged. It didn't happen in a vacume, nor was it "made up". As previously posted, it is just being illuminated in one concentrated area, with the hope of changing, via peer pressure, a wrong culture.

I've observed at a few other airlines that the new "shiny jets" seem to attract a certain type of pilot and they seem to concentrate there. I'd imagine it is the same with the 777 at FedEx. Sure sounds like it! :D

I'm sort of curious what "events" have occurred in the 777 aside from several jumpseat issues over the past several years. You seem to be 'all knowledgeable' on 777 gaffes.
